Topic: I got permission from an artist to re-upload their old work here but he didn't know E6 has takendowns. Should we put some special tag on his works already on the site?

Posted under General

I have a personal archive of the art by artist htf cuddles and I asked him if I could re-upload a specific comic series

He said he would rather not but he can't stop me

I told him thanks but was confused cause E6 let's artist take down art

Apparently he wasn't aware cause he had experiences with booru sites making fun of him for trying to take down his art

He did give me permission to upload a comic series vore raiders which I'm planning on uploading but he did say there are ones he wouldn't like to be here

Should we put a tag on all pre 2020 art of his on here to show he might want them taken down? It seems his ok with some but not all

Thanks if you can answer this!

I heard that other boorus other than e6 have a reputation of being incredibly difficult when it comes to removing your artwork unless you DMCA them.
On the other hand, e6 would always honour the artist's wishes should they want to remove their work from the site (see takedown for more info).

In your case, what you wrote seems very misleading. They would rather you not upload their work but then also gave you permission to upload a series of theirs? Why put a special tag when you have already gotten their permission?

As for the special tags, we don't do that at all. The closest to what you are describing is the year tags (e.g., 2020) and conditional_dnp tag (which they would need to request personally with their terms and conditions).

No special tags are necessary. If he doesn't want certain works of his onsite, all he need do is file a Takedown (so we have a papertrail). If NotMeNotYou needs any clarification on anything, he'll ask. Taking Takedowns and DNPs seriously is a point of pride for e621, even when the reasons might be petty and silly to an outsider. All you need do is make him aware of how to file a Takedown, and he can decide for himself which pictures he wants to keep on the site and which he doesn't.

I guess after I informed him he'll probably think about it

I wouldn't be surprised if he decides to take a look and take some of them down

But I do wonder if I should put conditional dnp when I post pages of the comic

Do not. That is not how the conditional_dnp (and avoid_posting) tags are used.

Those tags are attached with the artist's tag by the admins, so that it indicates the status of their artwork being on the site.
Like I have said before, if they want to have conditional_dnp, they will need to request it personally from the admins and state their conditions.
