Topic: [APPROVED] Tag alias: sabertooth -> sabertooth_(disambiguation)

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

It already existed, but was deleted. Not sure how to see who deleted it since it wasn't linked to a forum topic, but I have a pretty good guess who.

I'm yet to see anything positive come from the crusade against disambiguations. It only creates a pointless tag that is providing neither the full number of results for smilodon / saber-toothed_tiger or sabertooth_(anatomy), all the while masquerading itself as a valid tag. (and likely preventing things from being tagged with the correct tag too.)

So that's a +1 for restoring it from me. If only we could do that for pool too.

looking at the edits for when sabertooth started being added again, it looks like it happed sometime before October 15 of last year. searching through mod actions to find who or when would take a while, though.

we desperately need much better modaction search

That's unlikely to happen without a full overhaul of modactions, and even then it's unlikely most old modactions would be transferable, making it useless for searching previous actions
I've wanted to change modactions (and tickets) to be polymorphic for a long time (provides much better consistency and searching), but it's a huge undertaking and not very backwards compatible

it'd be nice to at least have the before/after date parameter visible (or exist? can you even search by date?) and being able to filter for user rank would be nice.

Using the hidden created_at parameter I checked the previous 2 months, and while I see some sabertooth-related aliases on page 10 and 11, I don't actually see anything to do with the sabertooth tag itself. I'm not sure if I'm looking in the correct mod action category or if it's even logged correctly, but with the frequency the tag gets used I'm sure that the alias would've been deleted within this time period.

As with every other route created_at is only shown when a value is present
https://e621.net/mod_actions?search[created_at]=2024-10-29

It supports range syntax (minus year/month literals)

level feels.. out of scope? I know what you're going for but I seriously doubt it'd be useful, and it'd definitely not be useful when staff changes

it'd be useful if we could at least filter out member level users.

Yeah, but some staff (especially old ones) leave as member and not as former staff, which does make things a bit trickier.

yeah, I went all the way back to 2022 and didn't find anything, strange. "tag alias update" should be the category that this is under, or at least that's the category that I've found alias deletions previously.
