Could you explain the difference?

Tribbing is any pussy to pussy contact, scissoring is specifically a type of tribbing where the participants legs are crossing over eachother as if they were a pair of scissors interlocked, hence the name
Makes sense to me, scissoring is more of a position while tribadism is the actual act.
Interestingly, there was once a scissor_position tag (which got aliased to tribadism) which stated:
Scissor position can only be used for tribadism posts at the moment.
Scissor position is a sex position in which two characters cross their legs in such a way that they look like a pair of scissors meeting at the crotch. Contrary to popular belief, this is a unisex position, and may involve penetrative sex. The scissored_<position> format can be used for any position portraying this position.

I can imagine that's one reason it got aliased away. "Scissoring" itself can be taken to mean "using scissors", while scissor_position was clearer but not specific enough to mean a form of tribadism and couldn't imply it, as it could ne used with gynomorphs and/or males in the same position. But people were too likely to just tag scissor_position without tribadism despite the latter often being present.
