Topic: E621 Favorites Limit

Hello all, first time posting a forum, please go easy.

I recently hit the 80k favorites limit and 750 pages. I had no idea there was even a limit on favorites.

True that. If you want a little more breathing room, going through the fav:Taranuka status:deleted search in unfavourite mode could buy you an extra thousand-or-so spots.

Which brings another roadblock, especially for how long I've been on this website. Manually unfavoriting. Kinda wish the site unfaved things if they were deleted. Would make things much more streamlined and not needing a fave limit.

There are reasons to keep favorites after deleting (posts can be re-instated, and it's also useful for finding things you liked that were deleted off-site with sources and such). I use my favorites as a reference for an off-site backup, and the deleted ones are important. Could be an option, though.

You'd most likely be fine creating another account for more favorites; to my understanding the favorites limit is largely just to prevent excessive strain on the server when searching favorites, so separating into another account would probably be fine. Would be best to get confirmation on that, though.

Gonna have to say no on making a second account. Don't want the admins thinking I'm gonna be using it for vote cheating or ban evasions if I somehow and someday incur their wrath.

As for the whole sources thing, I'm very E621 illiterate and I just come here to get my jollies and fave what I like, so I'm definitely not using a large chunk of what this site might have for me.

Please don't do this. Creating an alt account to bypass the favourites limit is still considered to be Circumventing Site Restrictions.
You will also get into trouble if you double-up on your favourites as that is also considered to be "vote cheating".

What you should be doing is either mass deleting unnecessary favourites (see topic #41321) and/or creating private sets to organise or move your favourites to.
As far as I know, there is no limit to how many sets one can make though there is a 10k post cap for each set.

As others have said there are reasons to not remove favorites on deleted posts, additionally deleted posts are a small portion of people's favorites
Based on a rough estimate of my 26,000 favorites: 350 are deleted posts (I can see deleted posts, so I've never cleaned out deleted posts)
That's 1.3% of my favorites, barely a dent
The limit exists because of search performance, removing deleted favorites doesn't fix that

You would be fine until you were discovered, after which one account would be banned and the other would be slapped with a big fat negative record

The limit is 75

Perhaps true, but I feel it would be silly if the rule was enforced that way, as I believe the fave limit exists for site performance issues (notably, determining which faves to display on your profile page), rather than to avoid spam. That being said, it IS better to just use sets, as you said (or use upvotes).
