Topic: Tag Alias: walk-in -> caught

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

I think we should keep both.
Walk-in is more specific, and 'caught' implies that the character(s) are doing something wrong. Which isn't always the case.

There is also the various other meanings of "caught" such as catching a ball, being caught lying, army caughts (lol regionalisms), catching a thief, etc.

Might be worth cleaning up one into the other though. It seems like walk-in is less likely to be confused, but I wouldn't mind it the other way.

Ok, I agree. [EDIT: although, I think it's more an issue of not wanting to be seen doing something than "right" vs "wrong"]

walk-in -caught: post #453132 post #100475
caught -walk-in:post #221831 post #514976 [EDIT: On second thought, these might be bad examples (one is safe-for-work, and one is voyeurism(?)), but I'm pretty sure caught -walk-in is still possible]

The confusing case is when one or more characters are caught but are oblivious to it or don't care: post #626737. Should it be tagged with only walk-in (not caught)?

It's sort of an annoying case because caught vs voyeur vs being_watched vs exhibitionism was confusing enough* without the additional walk-in tag, but I guess tagging them only walk-in makes sense.
*(There's cases where it's not clear if someone who is watching is a voyeur and if someone being watched is an exhibitionist, but that's getting off-topic)

Also, how do you tag pictures like these:

Yeah, that wouldn't count as caught. Walk-in and being_watched?

I like the way Danbooru uses those tags:
Walk-in is tagged when a character enters a scene and interrupts (or is shocked by) something, typically sex.

And caught is tagged when a character is literally caught doing something bad, or is visibly shocked by being seen. Such as caught cheating on their spouse, or caught masturbating in public.

*(There's cases where it's not clear if someone who is watching is a voyeur and if someone being watched is an exhibitionist, but that's getting off-topic)

If it's not clear, then it's probably best to just tag being_watched instead of voyeur.

I don't think caught or walk-in apply to the first three. Though I'm not sure what's going on in the first one. :/

Charizard doesn't really look like he's been 'caught' doing anything. That seems more like an unwanted erection. I'd tag that as exposed and talking_to_viewer. Same for the third one.

Fourth one looks like he's been 'caught' masturbating to pictures of Lois, and he's visibly embarrassed by it. Caught might work for that one. Can't exactly tag it as walk-in since the other character(s) are only implied and not shown.

Those are, of course, just my opinions.

So basically, for most sex cases, walk-in vs. caught is decided by which characters are visibly shocked? That sounds fair enough.

Fair enough. I'm never sure if such pictures should be tagged being_watched, but I guess it would be impossible for him not to be watching, so I guess that makes sense.

If it's not clear, then it's probably best to just tag being_watched instead of voyeur.

Yeah, that's what I do.

That works. Apparently I once added accidental_erection to the Charizard one, but then removed it. I don't remember doing that, but I'll add it back as well as adding exposed and removing caught.

Since it's been established that they are used differently, I'm going to go ahead and deny this one.
