I'm curious to people's opinions about the mass amount of my little pony content.

Do you wish e621 users would stop uploading pony content or do you hope they continue to do so?

For me? I wish there was less of it. My dislike for the pony art comes mainly from the fandom itself. I find that people who are obsessive over it have put a negative view on the art itself.

So what are your opinions guys?

I like horsecock, so I'd say probably an overall positive opinion.
As for the negatives, easily solved by blacklist.

^indeed. I myself dislike MLP and they're heavily present within the cubs, which is something I praise. But instead of bitching about it, I just blacklist it. And so should other people do to whatever they dislike instead of downvoting a good image from a fetish they're not into.

It's easy enough to blacklist, so I don't care either way.
I prefer more realistic-looking porn, but I've seen a couple of MLP pics worth saving. And I generally find the MLP fandom humor extremely flat: my first reaction to seeing clean images is usually "is that supposed to be funny?"

Oh I had forgot to answer it. Well, I do wish to see less pony stuff as it's getting quite out of hand, but otherwise, blacklisting has served me well, like previously stated. As for how I see the fanbase, I began to despise them once it spread like a virus and I lost a few friends due to it (they became too obsessed with it and it made them way too annoying), and eventually got sick of seeing ponies so often on Youtube (when I cared more about my channel) and elsewhere. Later on I became more flexible about it and I barely judge anyone for being into ponies (I still kinda do, but much less than I used to especially if the person gives an otherwise good impression). I don't intend to offend anyone who's into MLP.

for me... I am ok to have alot of MLP stuff... but plz try to have less clean ones... unless is good or funny... some of those are just werid lol

It's still furry to me, so I like it. I just find it amusing how people bitch over it and hate the art, just because of the idea of the show and the fandom, and not at all because of the art itself.

Too much pony stuff. I LIKE the porn, and I even think the art style is kinda cute, but I wish there was LESS of it. I don't want to straight up blacklist it, but I was a fan of the furry subculture, and that's how I found e621. Not pony "culture".
I'd like to keep e621 furry, and not have it flooded with so much pony.

If it's an anthro pony it's better, though.

It's honestly getting a bit absurd, I had to blacklist it a while ago to even be able to see anything that isn't MLP. It gets to the point where sometimes an entire page shows up as blank or nearly blank because it's all ponies.

It gets a bit silly when the number of MLP posts(42580 according to trending tags) is starting to rival pretty common tags like penetration(43669). At this rate, this is just going to turn into a pony site.

You know guys that unless you're already using many tags you can also add -mlp to your search, right?

If I'm annoyed about something then it's:

• mass uploading of tumblr ask whatever pages, or things like pool #2368.

• mass uploading of MS Paint quality pics like tyrranux. Seriously, I don't see why this was approved.

• Inability of people to tag correctly. (Not adding feral/anthrofied tag. Not adding bestiality. Tagging OC, especially that with big teats, as fim)

Oh, and surprise surprise, all the people who think it's fine have MLP avatars.

That was probable me. Nuked out around 159 mlp and like 8 none mlp. Had to leave my browser open for 2 days to pull it off lol.

The fact that MLP is the only modern 'furry' media series. Movies are too short for people to really fall in love with them the way that they have with the MLP cast. Video games like Pokemon require too much interactivity. TV is both free and you can sit there and consume it passively. Along with this, nearly all people have a natural urge to want to belong to a group. Additionally for furries, by using MLP as a mutually agreed upon setting they're freed from having to do their own world building or otherwise lay out groundwork for their character(s). Instead of having to decide on a time period or setting and such, you just have Equestria. Instead of having hundreds of species, you just have ponies. It's like wearing your colors on the street!

MLP neatly packages up a particular brand of morality for easy consumption. Bronies have their own codewords to induce feelings of belonging (everypony, mane six, etc). A lot of bronies will angrily deny that they are furries because, I suspect, that makes them feel like they're part of a larger group instead of an exclusive new sub-culture. The more hardcore bronies will know all of the songs and episode plots and so on. It's their brony cred. It's the nerd version of gang signs.

Someone who uses MLP as a spring board for their own creations now knows they have more or less a captive audience that will automatically consume any sort of MLP-based artwork or stories. You can see this in the vast array of fan-made MLP spin offs that really have nothing to do with MLP at all except in name. High School dramas, post apoc struggles, grimdark blood & gore, and more. What you wind up with is a microcosm of furry-within-furry as you go from The World to Furry to Bronies to Grimdark Gore Ponies.

I suspect that the pony fandom will gradually fade out to background noise a few years after the show is canceled much like how the Sonic fandom still hangs around and limps along at the edge of Furry with out ever quite going away... only to have the whole cycle repeat when some new IP comes along that's easy for us to sink our teeth into.

Ponies are a subset of furry, this is a furry site. They are very likely here to stay, although I wouldn't mind some sort of cap on tumblr-ask reposts and the likes.
I do like comics and I'm quite certain I've read most/all mlp shortcomics, sure you see they are done by amateurs most of the time and they do require inside knowledge to fully develop their flavour but mosk ask-tumblr is more of a circlejerk than a comic.
And I still think this is the equivalent of the new guy in school who suddenly makes friends with everyone and becomes popular just to be hated by all people who are longer to school than him for taking away their spotlight.

I have to say; As both a furry and a brony (from the former to the latter), I have found the middle ground that is anthro ponies, as they are quite often treated as furry in themselves. The leftover feral, or stock ponies, are a big no-no for me, as I register said feral stuff as bestiality, as far as porn of it goes.

Pretty much this. I think the Brony culture is sort of stupid, and I equate it with a lot of the Homestuck culture, but some of the art they put out isn't too bad. Swaetshrit, Otanta and Crookedtrees were some of my favorites.

For me, I'm just not into that thing (I have no problem with equines in general).
At a point I got tired by the huge amount of mlp posts so I blacklisted it.
Before I did that, I saw exactly one picture I liked (Can't find it now).
As mentioned before, sometimes the amount of remaining posts on a page is very low. The blacklist-system could use some changes. Instead of loading 100 posts from the database and just filtering the flagged ones, it should load 100 posts, filter and count the flagged ones, then use that amount to load more posts, filter those .... and so on until there are 100 unfiltered posts.

The show was funny. I liked the characters, and the humor wasn't as crass as say, South Park or Family Guy. It felt refreshing.

Then again, I started watching the show when the subculture was comprised of 2 or 3 memes and a handful of people just idly talking about the show. Then people started praising the show like it was god's gift to earth, and the fandom became super super shitty.

The R34 fandom is like 18 times more tolerable than the SFW one. Plus the porn is nice.

As for the art, hey, If I like it, then why should it matter if it's mlp?

I'm glad there's no embargo on Pony art here. The only real downside I feel to MLP art on the site is that the quantity can seem overwhelming sometimes. I love that e6 is like a "one stop shop" for seeing what's new in the furry art world -- and new pony art definitely falls under that -- but at the same time trying to sift through too much can be very annoying.

What I really do like is the vast amount of creativity you find in the fandom. Pics, comics, fanfics (you know, I never bother with fanfics before Pony, but some are actually really good (really)). I was pretty disappointed with Season 3 but I still love the show's "world" and it's the fan work that's kept it alive for me.

Yes I'll admit that entire pages showing up blank is very annoying and yes, it's a bit too much on the site to be ignored easily, but we are working on a solution to it and in the meantime just add -mlp and you won't have any blank pages

On a different note, I might actually have watched the show out of curiosity if it wasn't totally ruined for me by the subfandom it created. I don't think I could ever watch it now.

I just wish they'd cut down on the mass uploading. It's not like there isn't good MLP art, but people seem willing to upload any image if it's got a character from the show or their "original" character in it. I wouldn't care so much if I could do a search for something like "lesbian feral" without entire pages of results only showing 1-5 images, or sometimes even 0 just because I blacklisted my_little_pony.

And just for the record, you successfully listed the core features of the mlp style, except the wings because not all are Pegasus, and nearly all artists simply iterate upon this style to create their own version, it is kinda like the "original" pizza recipe and all the hundreds of variations on the basic recipe.

About the OP:

The level of MLP:FIM has been crazy for the last year or so. Hell, we just had a basic OC posted here less than 20 minutes ago. We get about 30 of them a week.

I have been told over and over to blacklist, but this does not work well. There is great art from bronies and involving MLP:FIM, and blacklisting it means that I loose out on them.

But the pure amount, especially of the shitty kind, of MLP:FIM art is getting to be nearly unbearable. I commonly search up "female" for I am not a great fan of gay and/or herm/futa art. Just two days ago I noticed a page that was heavy MLP art. I counted it. 183 MLP images out of 200. only about 20-30 MLP images were decent to the eye. Not necessarily to my liking, but looked decent enough to be liked.

I have also been noticing very very shitty MLP art that is still liked and had a positive rating. Are people voting up just because it is a MLP image?

Aside from all that, and all feelings aside; you have to remember that e621 is also a business. This site needs pageviews to operate and pay it's bills. Ponies and it's followers bring in a lot of traffic and that's good for our site. e621 is the "has it all" site and that's why it grows so much every day, so it just wouldn't make sense for us to remove content that is getting us traffic

I've tried stating it as informative and professional as I can

One last thing also, I agree that some bronies on the more extreme side are ruining it for the rest, and that extreme bronies, or furries for that matter, simply are unavoidable on a site our size, and to report them when they get too much
