Really, I don't know why Hasbro didn't go for making them anthros, rather than those horribly crappy humanizations.

Seems like the story called for transit to the human world. Ah well, I guess we'll just have to rely on the amazingly talented artist in the furry and brony communities to do it for us.

I have better question. Why do they changed adventures of ponies in magical land full of different creatures (like gryphons, minotaurs, cockatrices etc.) and changed it into another shitty human high school drama? Do they seriously believe that children are stupid enough that they're indifferent to what genre of cartoon they are watching? Well, judging by majority of reactions, bronies apparently are that stupid.

If anything, I would have liked it to be anthro, in the same setting, exactly as it was but with just a bit more... anime-ness. Like, Hellsing style, not Sailor Moon, you know?
