Topic: Adding in an Advanced Search option.

Posted under General

Is it any at all possible to add in more specific search options besides tags to the search function? I would like to be able to search based on rating, file size, explicit rating options, and on page blacklisting of certain tags from the search.

If you are on the post index page, try clicking the yellow (search help) above the search field to travel to this nifty cheatsheet/help page it lists and explains everything you can and can't do with the search.

God I wish people would click that. :( I think the vast majority of e621 users have no idea just what all the search function is capable of. Definitely something that needs to be addressed in a future redesign of the site.

For a long time I only knew of the rating: tags and first of all I couldn't even search because I didn't know I had to use underscores. I totally agree with that needing to be addressed. Boorus in general aren't the friendliest of things for new users.

I found it only because I was looking for eastereggs and the likes. (The reason I also stumbled over that wrong email ages ago).

But yeah, it should probably be neon pink and 40 pixel big or something. Or include a "Not finding what you want? Click here for help!" in the "No one here but us chickens!" message if there are no results.
