Topic: Male Solo/Female Solo tag?

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

This topic has been locked.

I am not sure, but I think there might have been a Male_Solo and Female_solo tag before, and it was removed and I am wondering why, or if we could resurrect the tags?

The reason why I am kind of pushing on this topic, is because I personally don't like seeing Solo male images(especially 'E' rated images that show male masturbation), and I see that mods push that if you don't like it or don't want to see it, Blacklist it, well, I cannot blacklist images of males by themselves because there is no tag. I also do not want to blacklist just solo or just male, because I am fine with those tags, and I have no problem with Solo Females.

So I ask if it would be a burden to resurrect the Male_solo and Female_solo tags, so it would narrow down the image classification for people who either want to just see males solo or females solo, or people who want to blacklist it (like me).

Thank you for your time. :)

Why don't you just type 'male solo' into one line on the blacklist?

I think that will blacklist all images with 'male' tag, and all images with 'solo' tag and I do not want that. There are images I like with males in them, and I do like solo images of females.

No, no it won't. It will blacklist male solo images, trust me.

If male solo images that are rated safe don't bother you, you can put male solo -rating:safe on one line and the only male solo images not filtered will be those rated safe.

I trusted your knowledge and you were correct.

Thank you very much :)

Thank you as well. I have learned much :D

I'm probably late, but here's my advice: "male solo" in one line, or since you specified it, "male solo masturbation". "rating:e solo -female" works as well, you'll only see solo images if there is a female in it. No males, but also not ambiguous_gender or intersex (given it's an explicit image. If not, you'll see everything.)

Thank you for this. I always wanted to not outright get rid of the guy stuff, just the stuff that was gay. Appreciate it.

Just put "gay" in your blacklist :I

That wouldn't cover images that could be gay, because those images can't get the gay tag. Example: If a male is wearing a speedo, bent over, presenting his ass to the viewer, That would be rated questionable, and could not be tagged gay, though it could certainly be perceived as such.

I already have it in my blacklist; the problem I was having was solos of dudes with their wangs out. Since people didn't often tag dick (and much less solo), his tip proved to be far more effective, since nearly every picture usually has a correct rating.

Yeah, it's more effective, but still the stragglers slip through, I think solo is definitely undertagged. I try and fix what I can but mind you that's like, only the front page lol.

Cool, this works but who is going to figure this out, it's completely unintuitive. Just make a 'solo male' 'solo female' tag.

This isn't your ordinary necro... This is... Advanced necro.

e621:blacklist
The default blacklist actively demonstrates how this works by blacklisting all young -rating:s posts, and the help page itself gives very detailed information as to how to achieve various goals.
Is there some part of this guide that needs to be changed?

No no, he's got a point. It IS unintuitive. I've been bothered by this for a good while myself. It is completely illogical to remove the "solo_male"/"solo_female" tags by implicating them to just "male" and "female". It makes it literally impossible for people like me to simply filter out any explicit pictures, featuring just a single guy in a sexual context, via defining exclusionary tags in the search bar (e.g. "-solo_male"). And the solution given above for the blacklist option only works ON THE BLACKLIST, it doesn't work at all in the search bar.

and? what's wrong with using the blacklist to filter stuff out? it's not like it's super inconvenient to use, you can change what's in it at any time and it even lets you toggle what entries are and aren't filtered on the fly.

I feel like solo male and solo femalecould be repurposed to refer to group images where there is only one male or one female in the group. female only and male only would be useful as well.
