Topic: Tagging Question: Intersex != Female

Posted under General

There are multiple intersex pictures listed as female. Is this a case of autotagging, or should all 'cunt boys' be listed as 'female' as well?

I've noticed a good amount of inconsistency in this, with no way of removing the female tags if appropriate.

What tags are there as well?

The list of tags that imply female is pretty big, you may need to remove another tag for this to work.

Take a look at female and on that page at the "The following tags are implicated to this tag:" Block at the bottom, if any of the tags listed there is on the picture than that tag is the culprit you're looking for.

It'd help if you linked us an image as an example of what you're talking about.

I'm starting to guess whatever image OP is talking about, would be a tag what you see sorta thing

It seems that some person/people are tagging cuntboys as female, and not removing the cuntboy tag either.
Not that they should remove it, if it's an appropriate tag.

Edit: oh joy, someone has tagged a bunch of cuntboys as FtM transgendered.
I can't fix all this crap...

Not so easy, they frequently are changed with other valid tag changes.
I'd tag-script a handful of them, but tag scripts seem to be broken.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I noticed it with some of the pictures of Swizzlestix' character, but it seems someone went through and edited them between now and when I posted this thread.

What is the site policy concerning tagging things like this? If the character is known to be a self-described 'cuntboy', would the female tag be inappropriate in all cases? I don't admit to knowing all the procedures here, but just seems like it might be annoying to go on to e621 and have your character listed as a flat-chested woman.

Not in all cases, no. We tag images based on information presented in the image itself, not from known information like canon or artist interpretations. So if it appears to be female, it will get tagged female. Conversely, if it appears to be a cuntboy, it gets tagged cuntboy; outside information never enters into it, with the exception of character names.

If an artist wishes it to be known that their character is not, in fact, a female, the description field works nicely for that.

Common mistake, we are not tagging characters.
We tag what is visible in a given image to make finding that image, and others like it easier.
We do not take it upon ourselves to tell anyone what a character's gender, sexuality, etc. is.

Here's the policy: https://e621.net/wiki/show?title=tag_what_you_see
And here's a breakdown of the policy: https://e621.net/wiki/show?title=e621%3Atag_what_you_see_%28explained%29 I promise that there is, in fact, a lot of sound logic in abiding by TWYS. :P
