I hope that if it's only some that all the starters will have mega evos.

In my opinion, Pokemon gets better, more exciting, and more interesting with each iteration, and I'm super-pumped for the next one. And you can't argue that, because it's purely personal taste.

Kid goes to new area, starts off with new pokemon, collects new badges, travels, team rocket shows up, defeats team rocket, goes to some huge challenge battle, win or lose,rinse wash repeat, has no changes what so ever and is forever 10. You're bringing pony drama into a pokemon discussion. I was asking people's opinions about it considering it's a new type of evolution. There's no new pokemon in it. You didn't have to post in the thread but you did just cause cause drama..

Not really sure about what that term means but if you mean that I only liked gen 2 or so, then no, I even liked the 5th one, but this mega evolutions just seem like a copy of digimon to me.

That's because literally every time new information is released for a new Pokemon, every generation, someone says "they're out of ideas" and those of us who like the new things they add are tired of hearing it over, and over, and over, and over.

People are really stretching for comparisons if the fan name for the evolutions being the same as a stage of evolution in a long dead anime sets them off lol

I like the idea of finally giving evolution deprived pokemon like Mawile something to evolve to. Hopefully, all pokemon with this same evolution-less trait get the same *cough*Zangoose*cough* However, in My honest opinion the ideas have been a bit lacking otherwise with Pokemon like Vanillish and Honedge. Not to mention for 3 whole generations Fighting has been the added type of the Fire starters. Honestly the biggest attraction to me was how creative the pokemon were. You know when you couldn't or could barely reference them to something outside of the game. All in all I hope the game can keep its fanbase happy in majority. This Mega Evolution thing seems pretty good. However, I am just personally not expecting great things overall.

All of those are EXTREMELY minor changes. They were so subtle I didn't even notice them the first time around.

As for Slowpoke-Slowbro, Slowbro has an extremely noticeable shell on his tail, has a different stomach, different claws, and stands on two legs rather than 4. That's just off the top of my head.

New Mega-evolutions released!!!

They announced the Mega Charizard, Mega Venusaur, and Mega Blastoise.
Like the others, they are similar, but stronger looking in appearance.

Also, it's been announced that you'll get a free choice of one of the 3 red/blue starters in X/Y as well in addition to the new X/Y starter pokemon.

Oh, and Mega Charizard gets Drought, the auto-Sunny Day ability, so it's going to be crazy strong.

They announced the full fairy type matchups too.

Fairy attacking:
1/2 damage: fire, poison, steel
2x damage: fighting, dragon, dark

Fairy defending:
1/2 damage: fighting, bug, dark
Immune: dragon
2x damage: steel, poison

So, no more 0 weakness pokemon, fairy attacks 2x damage against ghost/dark.
Steel gets a new 2x damage, which is nice.
And, all those normal types that pick up fairy type will drop their fighting weakness.

They also just announced some new pokemons.
There's a poodle(not surprising since they based the new game world on France) that is groomable, and it's fur grows out over time.
A psychic type cat looking pokemon, Meowstic it takes gender differences to a new level, not only do they look different, but they learn different moves.
New fossils were announced, tyrunt is a rock/dragon and is very cool looking.
Amaura is rock/ice a new type combo, and is kinda cute, has a new ability refrigerate which makes all it's normal type attacks into ice type, pretty neat.

I bet you that stick from the fire starter evolution will become a fighting stick in the next evolution.
