Topic: Cancer checks and you.

Posted under Off Topic

Thought I might have a serious topic for once.

I recently had surgery as a cancer precaution. Found a small cyst that's non cancerous but removed it anyway.

If you have cancer running through your family. Please get yourself checked out. It's worth knowing that you're okay.

Edit: Accidentally put this in art talk. FUCK. Should be in offtopic

Always good to be aware of things like that. Hope you have a speedy recovery, Patch!

I will think about. Cancer runs pretty strong in my family.

Trust me on this. Don't think about it. Just do it. If it runs in your family then you really should get everything checked out.

There's a mole on my leg that I think has changed shape so I'm going to get that checked out some time soon.

My mother seems to think that this thing on my back is cancerous, but my father thinks otherwise. Personally, I can't be fucked to get it checked, but maybe after I turn fifty I'll consider a cancer diagnosis if no other symptoms appear before then.

Nice of you to give everyone the incentive though, Patch. Glad to hear you also had the brain to go do it yourself and actually worked out a bit of a problem while you were at it - smart person you are.

For me, I was getting severe pain during my time of the month. At times I was left bedridden and couldn't move because I was in so much agony. Ended up having surgery where they found a small cyst on my left ovary. My mother had cervical cancer a few years before I was born and I decided I should get this pain checked out.

It opened my eyes. Been telling people to get moles and such checked. Being in Australia, melanoma is very common here. I don't deserve the thanks.

Damn, I'm getting surgery in two weeks to remove a small cyst in my jaw. I don't know if it's cancerous or not but it's good to be aware of things like this. Yo Patch, you're awesome :)

I don't think I'm a Cancer, I'm pretty sure I'm an Aries
But seriously, the average person has like 4-5 cancerous growths in them at any given time. It's just whether or not the body can
-Recognize the unregulated cell growth
-Be able to slow and/or halt the growth of the cancer without killing too many of the healthy cells.
But with the advances in medicine we are able to detect and eliminate the cancers with a higher success rate, and less of a chance of a second occurrence.
However, I still believe it is impossible to "eradicate" cancer as it is something that one cannot "catch" like a cold.

No one in my family has ever had cancer.

However, we do have a history of diabetes, Alzheimer's, dementia, and appendicitis (I don't even know if this one's hereditary. But 4 people, my dad included, have had it.)

Fuck.

Well, my mother had cervical cancer too but that was a year ago. She recovered (she goes checking once in a while).

I don't feel anything strange, besides having a small lump in the back on my head but I've had that since a lot of time but never grew or shrunk. Does'nt hurt when touched or pressed, though.

oh-em-gee!! Patchi making a serious thread! :P

I have a tumor by my right kidney. About 2.5cm in size and thus far waiting on tests to determine if it is removable. As patch said its best to be screened regularly because time is indeed the biggest enemy.
