I dislike the term.
I would prefer something a bit less "internet-y" sounding.

How about 'autophotography' or 'autophotographic'.

Self_shot is more camera-y, which I like. What about selfshot_portrait? It would mimic the existing format tag format for headshot_portrait better than selfie or self_shot would. Tag consistency is very useful. And I think it's a little more clear for those not in-the-know with hip terms. I know I'd never heard of selfie before. I don't doubt it's used sometimes, but my point is that it may not be a universal term. Before now I'd only heard of this as "the myspace pose" (which is not something I'd recommend for a tag). But something like selfshot_portrait could work.

All those are silly and no one would look for that by that name. IF someone would ever search for such a thing, I'm pretty they would use selfie. I mean its not like the term just came up, it's as old as facebook at least

I'd say photo_of_self would be a good tag, that isn't slang, and is descriptive.
As for searching for "selfie" an alias would solve that problem.

Guys, I've been hearing "selfie" for at least 2 years now Lol It's a WAY more common term than you might think. You mainly hear about it on Facebook, but it has recently been added to the dictionary(which is sad, I know). Self_Shot is pretty good too; nice length and to me sounds just as good.

This was the first time I heard it.
If I had seen that on some image, I would've just assumed that it's an artist or character tag.

Self_shot seems preferable. Not everyone is social media savvy.

Selfie just sounds like slang for masturbation. I cringe every time I hear somebody in the "real world" say it, not only because of how stupid it is, but also because of that.

Selkies /are/ awesome. We should replace this selfie tag non-sense with selkie instead, to emphasize just how awesome they truly are. All for, raise your hand and say aye!

I'd settle for just more selkie art, to be honest. I just did a search for it and was surprised to find it didn't even have a proper tag. I've uncovered two in total, which isn't enough. I'm really surprised that on a huge furry site like this, there aren't already dozens. I might have to figure out a way to remedy that...

There are A LOT of things on ud that you probably aren't okay with whatsoever, including the sheer number of totally bogus entries that highschoolers make about their friends' nicknames and whatnot, which someitmes intersect with emerging terms which are actually used in multiple cities/states/etc to refer to something... Anything involving furries or subculture on there is on-par with encyclopedia dramatica.

ON TOPIC: As long as we clarify selfie as a photographic self-portrait in the wiki, I'm fine. I would almost make this the root tag, but that's just me. I don't feel strongly on the subject, I would almost suspect some people might mistake it for self_suck aka autofellatio.
