Feb 26th:A new bill in Arizona is making its way through the Senate that would force sites like e621 to implement mandatory age verification for all users—or face potential lawsuits. This system would require third-party vendors to verify every user’s age through a government database. Not only is this a massive violation of privacy, but it also introduces serious risks, including identity theft through phishing schemes and other malicious methods. Worse still, we would have no control over ensuring that user data is permanently deleted after verification.

Since e621 operates out of Arizona, this law would almost certainly impact us if it passes. If you want to help ensure that we can continue serving you without being forced to collect personal information, we urge you to contact Arizona’s senators and ask them to vote NO on this bill.

Please help spread the word about this issue and encourage others to take action.
Further information on the bill itself can be found at the Free Speech Coalition: https://action.freespeechcoalition.com/bill/arizona-hb-2112/

create alias higurashi_no_naku_koro_ni (48) -> higurashi_when_they_cry (1) # duplicate of alias #72045
create alias higurashi:_when_they_cry (1) -> higurashi_when_they_cry (1) # duplicate of alias #72046
create implication higurashi_when_they_cry (1) -> when_they_cry (10)
create alias umineko_no_naku_koro_ni (15) -> umineko_when_they_cry (6) # duplicate of alias #72043
create alias umineko:_when_they_cry (1) -> umineko_when_they_cry (6) # duplicate of alias #72044
create alias ciconia_no_naku_koro_ni (0) -> ciconia_when_they_cry (5)
create alias ciconia:_when_they_cry (0) -> ciconia_when_they_cry (5)
create implication ciconia_when_they_cry (5) -> when_they_cry (10)

Reason: (Note: I have never read any When They Cry VN.)

I think each VN should be referred to with its English title, which seems to be the e6 standard. They also shouldn't have a colon, because that's how the English title is written in the English sources I can find. (See the Steam pages for: Higurashi, Umineko, and Ciconia)

I think all of them implying the series they're in should be self-explanatory.

The bulk update request #10287 is pending approval.

create alias rena_ryuugu (7) -> ryugu_rena (0)
create alias rena_ryugu (1) -> ryugu_rena (0)
create implication ryugu_rena (0) -> higurashi_when_they_cry (1)

Reason: There's also multiple tags for this one character that probably should be aliased to one. I don't know if there's an official e6 policy on Japanese names, but from my admittedly cursory research it seems like we do traditional Japanese name ordering (so FAMILY NAME + GIVEN NAME) with whatever romanization is most commonly used. In this case it seems like the most common romanization is Rena Ryūgū, so it should be written Ryugu Rena to have the proper ordering and would be written without the diacritics since e6 tags don't use those.

Also, the tag should imply Higurashi, since she comes from that VN.

There's probably many more When They Cry characters that this could be done for, but I haven't read the VNs so I wouldn't know. I just noticed this annoying case when I was uploading art that included her.

If we have an actual name order preference it should probably be indicated in e621:translation.

Ah, that would probably be rena ryugu, then.

I tried to glean a pattern from tags like tohno shiki rendering the long "ō" with an "oh" since that's how he's usually referred to, but also with the traditional ordering (even though he's almost exclusively called Shiki Tohno in English sources, so this is probably inaccurate). Also gojo satoru being rendered with his family name first, with the long "ō" being rendered just as "o", which seems like the most common thing in English sources. The ordering might be debatable. I think with official translations he's Satoru Gojo but you see him called Gojo Satoru in English sources.
