Topic: Bad artist tag?

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

I tried to tag a monster called a Mimic, yet it seems 1 artist has that name. But when I look up the tag mimic I just see the mimic monster and not the artist. Can someone fix this tag so its not an artist tag?

Last time I checked, Only admins can change artist tags back to normal. Or at least thats what I was told. I guess that was changed...

edit: Just tried it, doesn't work

edit2: It seems the short tag of gen: does not work, it will just make a new tag with that in it. Example: gen:mimic or anything that uses gen: to try to fix the tag. I dont think I am able to fix this, as the tag doesnt work.

Note: I was able to fix it with general: but gen: does not work as the page says.

Searching for mimic suggests other tags including: mimic_monster and mimic_chest. Maybe mimic should be aliased, or just retagged, to mimic_chest which is rather descriptive and is already a species tag.

There's a few like this, like the char:tag for bubblegum and pom poms; Mostly they seem to be leftovers from the era of "tag them by name even if their name is an item" rather than the current standard of naming them "Bubblegum_(Character)" or "Bubblegum_(Artist_Name)". A bunch of character names have that issue as well, where they're tagging a bunch of characters that all share the same name, rather than separated into individual character name tags.

Mimics can be anything really, from pots, barrels, people, and chests Some people perf to search for chest mimics or other types of mimics. I for one like chest mimics more then other types of mimics :v

While I agree with Conker on mimic chests being the best mimics, there are, as he said, mimics of other kinds... Maybe mimic_monster, just to ensure equality and full coverage of mimic types?

What's the problem? I just tried spec:mimic and it worked fine.

The title of this thread was misleading. Here I was actually hopeful someone was proposing a BAD ARTIST tag, Because we sort of need one.

On the note of this thread though, The tag CHROME has the same issue. It's an artist's name but it is also used for images relating to google CHROME. :P

No, that is a troll tag, and we don't need those

Could have fooled me considering the sheer amount of crap work that still gets approved here. And it gets so tiring to have to add about 10 'wonderful' artists to my blacklist daily..

I just fixed it.

The problem now is, the gen: short tag does not work for fixing tags like it says.

Then do what we all do when finding a tag, make google_crome and Crome_(Artist). It sorts it out nicely.
