You can argue maybe that their mouth may or may not indeed be smiling, but you really smile with your whole face. It's commonly said that one can smile with their eyes, y'know? The whole facial expression determines what a smile is, not just mouth. Eyes can turn a smile-looking-mouth into what most would call a grimace, depending. Is that clear?
