Normally I would disagree, since most kanji have multiple meanings, but in this case, "七鍵" has only one reading, so it should be fine
However, that reading depends on what version of kanji is being used (great explanation about that here )
Which would normally be on'yomi (shichi_ken), rather than kun'yomi (shichi_kagi)
So an alias of 七鍵 -> shichi_ken should be fine. Or even both (七鍵 -> nana_kagi) if you want to be really thorough

We should really have some kind pixiv artist naming guide for cases like this, since it would be much easier to use the artist's pixiv username (kiske_7key), which never changes, and is always in english, as opposed to their pixiv nickname (七鍵 きすく ) which can

Going by your statement, I would always alias to the username unless they have a name somewhere else also in English. MUCH easier to manage.

Exactly!
If no one has a more effective method, I may write a wiki guide to pixiv (artist naming, sourcing etc.)
