Topic: Sissy < Crossdressing [] OR [] Sissy < Girly

I think the sissy tag should be replaced with crossdressing or girly.

Because in images tagged with sissy they all seem to be crossdressing images to begin with. So I dont see the harm in this change, discuss?

It seems that the sissy tag is a character tag. Fixing it now...

EDIT: The tag is now a regular tag. I say we should alias it to crossdressing as you said

No, because not all crossdressing post #309829 post #297269 post #306795 is of the frilly, flouncy, overwhelmingly feminised sort associated with the word 'sissy' - post #81424 post #249932

Now, 'sissy', could imply crossdressing, sure

You just linked to a lot of crossdressing images.....what are you talking about? Each image shows a char in a skirt crossdressing or some other female clothes.....its still related to crossdressing.

Its the same thing...sissy tagged images just have males crossdressing.

Overly feminized crossdressing is easily searched as is with a "crossdressing girly" search.

Having a separate term that means the two together is somewhat redundant.

Yes, it is, but 'sissy' is a subset of crossdressing.

Not all crossdressers are sissies, but all (correctly tagged) sissies are crossdressers.

Surely both the girly tag and the sissy tag are practically the same thing?

Then maybe girly or some other tag could focus more on the build, or body type of the character, because, given the existence of sissy, that's what I'd thought it was aimed at.

I'm not entirely sure how you can think that sissy = crossdressing. Sissy is a state of mind, a way of acting. Crossdressing is dressing in the opposite gender's clothes. If a woman was crossdressing as a man, that wouldn't be sissy.

Save sissy for characters who are obviously or are acting like sissies; it doesn't need to imply crossdressing, because you can be a sissy without engaging in it.

Agreed, with emphasis.

And additionally, girly (in my opinion) should be used when a character appears feminine but is still male (wide hips, eyelashes, curvy body, etc.)

The wiki agrees: "On e621, the "girly" tag refers to images and animations depicting a male or ambiguous_gender character who displays a feminine personality or style of dress."

So I went ahead and removed the girly tags from solo females. There's still a lot of pics that are tagged as cuntboy + girly, but I'm not going to meddle with those.

I think there's some pics under girly that would better fit under sissy, but I'm not sure about what the exact difference should be. For example: #330524 #328642 Girly or sissy?

IMO, Sissy tends to be used in more of a degrading and emasculating fashion. The implication being that the sissy is weaker and inferior. I mostly see it in the context of BDSM or other sorts of power exchange based play.

Girly is more of a neutral term. I see it in a range of situations, most of which have neutral to positive connotations. "Girly Bois" and such where it's meant to appeal to a segment of the population with homosexual leanings.

Its tag what you see not what you know, if they are in female clothes its crossdressing, who cares what metnal state they are in (that we dont know) the tag sissy is used on very few crossdressing images and its a pointless tag

It's not pointless, it's a distinctive subtype with it's own connotations.

Are you going to go after suggestive next, then?

[edit]

There are about 40 pages of images that suggest people are using the girly tag to mean the build of the character, rather than the manner of dress.

Perhaps it would be best to edit the wiki definition of girly to better fit it's usage, and to define sissy with - mostly - the existing wiki definition of girly.

I've never used the girly tag for the build of a character. I add it when the character or image is obviously girly (ex. Mostly pink , rainbows, and frilly, etc.) I don't find the sissy tag necessary because it kinda isn't TWYS
