Topic: Takedown

Hey guys, I would like to see if I can get 2 images I posted taken down. I am aware that the artist is the one who has to file the request to get it taken down, but I'm just bringing it to everyone's attention to see if I can expedite the process, seeing as I was wrong to post them in the first place, and rightfully so, the artist hates my guts. She's a great artist, my favorite actually, so I want to try and help her out either way. To my knowledge, she has talked to the admins and possibly sent a takedown request already. Here are the two pictures:

Thank you

She needs to fill out the takedown form and be patient.

I know, and she hasn't told me that she's in a rush or anything, I just wanted to attempt to expedite it as a favor to her. She's an awesome person, and I hate the fact that I pissed her off with my typical stupidity.

If she isn't in a rush then there is no need for this forum thread to really exist.

Patience.

If shes pissed off and hates you for reposting 2 images then that artist sounds like a raving stuck up 'otch of a person who isnt worth being friendly towards. Also making a thread about this wont have it handled any faster, there are other take down requests to deal with after all. Tell the artist to wait their turn like everyone else.

Not for reposting, just for posting them up in the first place. She doesn't want her art on this site, and her main issue is that I put them up without her permission or the commissioners', so I can understand that(although one of the posts was a headshot that I commissioned). It was a big mistake on my part. She really is a nice person dude, and she's a great artist. She wasn't pushing me to get it taken down or anything, I just wanted to try and get it off a little faster to hopefully get back in her good graces and show her that I really am sorry. This post was all me. And they got taken down, so I'm sure we're both happy now. I know better now, hopefully I won't be this fucking stupid again.

btw, it was 3 images that I uploaded of hers, and 1 someone else did. I only showed two since at least one was okay to keep up, but she probably filed the takedown request before she knew that the commissioner himself uploaded it. She talked to him on FA.

If she doesn't want art posted to a wider audience, then it's probably not worth knowing her.

I mean, she put it on the internet. If she doesn't want it to reach people, why even bother drawing?

It's not so much that, it's the fact that I put it on a site that's mainly used for porn art without her permission.

Look, if one is going to draw art and post it on the internet, a place where everything can be viewed by anyone anyway, then even if it IS posted on a porn site without her say-so, why is she angry?

It reaches a MUCH wider audience this way. Is she concerned about art theft? Does she NOT want people to see her art?

Some fucking artists, man.

Calm down.
Some artists want their art posted in a singular place where they can at least somewhat control the audience that gets exposed to it.

It scares some of them when their art gets posted in other places because they may or may not feel like they don't "know" what kind of community is behind those places.

tl;dr adorable ignorance of how the internet works

Some artists have lost their jobs because of it. So no, posting art without permission isn't exactly a joking matter.

There's a good reason why some artists don't want their works on sites that show up on search engines...

Most artists actually have misconceptions about e621 and will takedown the shit out of their art that gets uploaded here without permission first. I've had an 100% success rate when asking artists if I can upload their art because I can explain how it works, mostly that art will be properly credited and with links back to their profile.

tl;dr always get permission first

How does an artist "lose" their job?
"oh, looks like my art was posted to another site, guess I'm fired from drawing"

Careful, your ignorance is showing. Not all artists want exposure, and artists who do want exposure don't always want everything shown around. Art is much more than being well-known or making money.

The immense majority of artists don't make a lot of money from it, so most of us have day jobs. Finding out you draw furry erotica or porn, combined with the public ignorance about "furry," "erotica," and "porn," can leave people in a pretty precarious position. No one wants to have to explain that to their supervisor.

xTheWolf94x, it sounds to me like you screwed up, admitted it, and tried to make things right. For whatever it's worth, I think that makes you a pretty decent guy. Thank you.

Nah. More like "my employer found out that I draw furry porn, and made up an excuse to fire me".

e621 posts artist's personal information? That does seem like a dick thing to do. We should probably stop doing that.

How would one's employer find out if one is drawing furry porn? Do these artists use their real name?

I'd hope not. Does anyone actually do that anymore?

Sometimes.
There have been some cases of "I used my real name when I was younger" or "I listed my nick on my Facebook profile, didn't expect them to search for it", but I know that some (such as Wookie) have got into trouble despite trying to keep their real identities secret. Dunno about the details.

Wow, there's a lot of artist hate in here. It's their art, let them decide what they want to do with it. Just because someone doesn't want their art posted on e621 does not make them a bad person.

With responses like this, is it any wonder some people don't want their art here?

I would like to point out that this site is approximately 30% non-porn.
While technically "mainly" could fit that number, I don't consider this to be an only porn site.

Just wanted to thank you for your patience and hopefully we can have the takedown request handled quickly. If the artist has not submitted a takedown request, she will have to do that and wait for it to be processed.

To everyone in this thread that keeps saying remarks similar to "The artist is foolish to restrict their publicity by taking art off a large site such as this". Well, it is their choice and we will respect the artist and comply fully. Our audience can sometimes be very harsh and our site is sometimes seen as such. If you want to really help our site, don't give us the reputation of being insensitive to artists.

Thanks man, I really appreciate it. This stupid mistake literally ruined my whole week and probably cost me a friendship.

I was willing to wait and the artist wasn't pushing me. I just wanted to handle this as quickly as possible because I really respect her and I'm sure she would appreciate it if it got off the site pretty quick. If it couldn't have been helped as quick as it did, that would have been fine with me. So yes, I was willing to be patient. Thank you Admins for dealing with it as fast as you did!

Improbable stuff happens. If you don't use the same nickname you use everyday to draw furry porn chances are pretty slim. However, some don't (although that is probably not the same Renard Queenston from LapFox Trax. If he is, at least I know what he's into- wait... I didn't want to know that! AAHHHHHHHHHH!!!)

In my country, however, it's kind of illegal to fire employees for shenanigans in their personal lives (unless it's a felony).

P.D.: This thread is really damn funny.

Wat? I handled that Takedown like 10 hours before your post.
I'm not going to do that takedown again. :V

Eh, I generally look at the takedowns 2-3 times a day, it mostly just hangs with people not responding or because I'm currently busy sleeping.

One admin being nice doesn't excuse a dozen users talking smack about artists and what the artist should suck up and what he shouldn't.
So yes, even users will have to do their part if the reputation isn't supposed to be one of asshats everywhere.

That's illegal in most places, they just say you weren't working hard enough or they needed to lay off employees because they're low on money. You both know they fired you illegally, but are you going to publicise that you draw cub hyperscat bestiality on the Internet to get compensation?
