Topic: Tag Implication: twi-scepter -> twi-sceptre

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Well, with the premier of MLP Season 4, "Twi-Sceptre" has become quite a popular meme, the term created by none other than the endearing fans of the series. Not a lot of pictures have made their way to this site yet, but there is a volume of funny joke, edits, and fanart pictures scattered around the net of the staff brandishing Twilight's smiling visage.

Perhaps it really isn't worthy of being a "Character" tag and can simply be named as the Master_Sword is; but since it IS a recognizable object and has it's own coined term from the community of MLP fans, I figured it would be a lighthearted joke that would be appreciated by the same fans who named it. Some pictures even personify the sceptre (to the extent of giving it a "voice") as shown in #405624.

And this is why No.

We got rid of Scootabuse and Molestia and trollestia and all the rest of those stupid meme names for a reason, primarily that of tag glut and useless search terms. Call them whatever you want on your own or with your friends, but keep it to yourself, please.

We dont tag memes here, there are many mlp memes we dont tag due to them being pointless renames and useless.

I think the real question is, do we tag the staff as Twilight? The resemblance is there and it would make it easier to find, on the cost of having it show up if you potentially don't wish to see it.

It is definitely iconic enough to deserve being tagged somehow, the question is just on the "how"

Could always just implicate it to sceptre.

It's not really a meme any more than some of the more obscure background ponies are "memes."

the tags scepter and MLP should be enough to find it. If only it was tagged correctly as scepter.

It just has Twilight's head with a rather silly face :P. Otherwise, we should tag post #6885 with paw-scepter, imo.

Oh, we might also alias sceptre to scepter since it's the correct spelling.

Well, sceptre has that red squiggly line while scepter does not (spell checker). Also, I've never heard/read the word before, so I just assumed

Sceptre - British English
Scepter - American English

This is a USA site, and since we had the entire gray and grey thing settled, it seems we are sticking to American English

Where was that settled?

There was a grey vs gray thread, and it was decided in there we would use American english on the site.

Found it; https://e621.net/forum/show/81433 if anyone else is curious. I personally don't care which way it's spelt in the end; as a Canadian, I use both relatively interchangably. Same goes for meter and metre and the like. :D

We have a number of minor memes floating about because someone decides to start posting them, certainly; However, we did have a huge blowup because of all the memes that were being tagged especially with MLP that then came to the end decision to nuke the memes in general. Don't be silly and ignore that, Char. :P

Pretty sure those memes were nuked because they didn't tag anything distinctive.

Yes and no; they were nuked because they were pony-specific memes that were for situations that already had tags, such as scootabuse or scootalove and the like; There were also the multiple expressions of characters such as Pinkamena (sad/emo) or Molestia that were rolled into their base character, because they were fan nicknames and not true separate characters. The same applies here; It is a scepter that has her face on it- tag it Twilight_sparkle and scepter, and other tags as appropriate.

In the case of Doge, one can argue at least that the character of Shiba is much more intrinsically attached to that meme because it is prevalent within the very work that features the character; while I personally say nuke all memes-for-the-sake-of-memes from orbit, I can at least understand the difference between extrinsic and intrinsic meme-ing. :P

Unfortunately pinkamena_(mlp) still exists. Even though proponents can't even agree what is its meaning.

I agree that allowing fandom specific memes is just bad, but I'm not sure about very largely known ones like doge, or arrow_to_the_knee, etc.

Which is why my *personal* stance is nuking them all, even if I know it'll never happen. ;) As for Pinkamena still existing- time to put in an alias request for that then.
