Aliasing rectum -> anal.

Reason: While technically they mean different things, most uses points to people thinking it's the same as anal, with or without actual view of the internal rectum. And I think searching "anal + internal" would probably work just as well for getting an internal anal view without needing the rectum tag at all.

rectum? Damn near killed 'em!

Also, aliasing rectum to anus would make more sense than anal.

That was my first thought too. But technically the rectum is the internal last section of the intestine before it ends in the ring of muscle known as the anus. So even though I've heard people use "rectum" as a more proper sounding term when they meant anus, they aren't really the same thing anatomically.

But more importantly, almost every picture currently under rectum has some form of anal insertion, penetration or other anal activity going on. Looking through what's under rectum currently, I don't think an alias to anus wouldwork because in some of those pictures the anus isn't even visible (the view is from the side, or only has an internal view of what was anally penetrating/inserting, or a half-inserted character is in the way of seeing the anus from the outside, etc). If we alias it to anal then all those images would fit. And any future images tagged with rectum but aliased will end up under anal where they're more likely to fit. It looks like anus would only apply to some of the images under rectum while anal would apply to all of them.

Then I would say invalid_tag it.
I'm not sure that "almost every" is sufficient to alias it to anal, especially when you take into consideration that someone searching "rectum" later will not likely be looking for just any anal image.

Someone searching for rectum could be thinking it means anus because of slang use, or could be thinking of the actual rectum and be looking for internal anal. So yes, it is a messy tag. So even though it's mostly anal, maybe it would be cleaner to alias it to invalid_tag like you say. Although being redirected to invalid_tag won't help searchers no matter which anal concept they were looking for...

getting an "invalid" is better than getting the wrong thing, if you get an "invalid_tag" on your search you automatically know to try something else.

Eh, I'd go through the images to ensure none of them don't fit the anal alias, then alias it over. Makes sense.

Aliasing rectum -> anal does not compute.

Yep. Anal is totally a type of sex. It is *not* a bodypart. Just because we happen to be seeing the rectum doesn't imply that anal sex is happening. There's totally weird stuff in this fandom and maybe we just wanna see weird things happening to rectums (recta?) without cocks or prostheses in them. Infact there's a rule (I forget the number, it's somewhere in the 30s) that says this is a thing.

Aliasing anal -> rectum also does not compute.

Since the portrayal of anal doesn't even require display of the rectum (it could be a frontview and just show say some awesome expressions), it doesn't make sense to reverse the alias either.

Since rectum is a part (specifically: a cavity) that's actually fairly deep inside the body, we could potentially even be shown a rectum without having an anus or even sphincter anywhere in sight. I don't entirely care what's defacto right now given that proper tag-curating will also prevent confusion later down the line.

Absolutely everything else to be done with the anus and internals attached to it is aliased to anal already. It's the catch-all term for any situation where the anal play of any sort is going on. If it's just being displayed, it should just be tagged anus. If the *rectum* is visible in any way, be it through an internal shot or stretching, anal play or sex *of some form* is occuring. Thus I say alias to anal, as I stated above. Those few that don't have any form of play or sex in them, just displaying the anus, should be tagged only anus, so I really don't see the problem here.
