Topic: Unimplicate barbs -> penis?

I've noticed that this implication seems to cause a lot of problems.

Images such as post #356140 get tagged with penis, because of the barbs. Then there's barbed weapons, barbed toys, barbed tentacles, etc. All implicated with penis though there's none to be seen.

The wiki entry only talks about penii, but that's clearly not how it's used... So maybe it should be unimplicated? Or maybe there should be a separate tag for barbed_penis and barbs?

Searching for barbs -nude -sex clothed -anal_penetration -erection (the most concise listing of terms I could think of that would relate to barbs sans dicks without unsearching penis, since the implication) and there were four images. Three of them were barbed penises and mistagged (two missing the nude tag, all three missing erection tags). The other one was this one. There is exactly ONE other image of Fourarms in which his penis is not out, and the artist saw fit to leave out the spikes anyways. Going by https://e621.net/post?tags=spikes it seems more appropriate to tag them spikes, and leave barbs as they are.

There's still plenty of them. It's one of the tags that I try to clean from time to time, and it still pops up constantly. Here's an another one:

Dildo. Solo female. Shouldn't be tagged with penis.

I'd say unimplicate: Barbs are nothing intrinsic to penis but to much more items: Fishing hooks, arrows, Feathers (in macroscopic), it is a specis of freshwater fishes etc etc. See Wiktionary

There are several immages that are tagges spikes, but could get barbs instead if you use all the other meanings. However maybe it is a better compromiss to maybe tag those seldom pictures with barbs bit not a penis with spikes - less work.

Your broad usage of the term barbs waters down the functionality of the term as a tag, though. Those should be simply tagged arrow, feather, fishing_hook, barb_(fish), et al. Spikes (aside from Spike_(MLP)) is quite specific in its usage, that being that of spikes in any form biological or mineral, which is why spikes should be used instead of barbs in any case of spiky protrusions.

I'll give you that one. On the other hand, dildoes are effectively replacement penises- The wiki (and common sense) agrees on that, at least (though that doesn't explain away why there's a penis tagged on a solo female with just a dildo). Especially in the case where it is a dildo of a feline penis meant to be anatomically correct. Hmm. Tricky.

Barbed dildos, but implicated as penis.

Dunno how to fix these without unimplicating it. Maybe these could be retagged as barbed_dildo instead of barbs? Though that solution seems a bit unintuitive..

I'm in favour of deimplicating. Barbs definitely shouldn't imply penis or dildo, since barbs can be on either of them, and so many other things too.

ditto, doing this would make things much more simple.

Q: should dildo implicate penis or no? It is meant to be a silicone/glass/rubber/whatever stand-in for a dick, and they look like dicks; Latex versions attached to latex characters are penises even though they're made of latex, so it's obviously not a material-dependant situation. Not proposing this seriously, but- just curious.

No. Dildo =/= Penis. It's as simple as that.

Why do barbs implicate penis anyways with barbed_penis which is what should imply both barbs and penis.
Edit: Maybe we need to look at some of the older wikis and check if the tags should be used differently, time to go to tagging projects with this one.

Bumping this again, since most folks seem to agree...and it's getting in the way of some of my clean up projects. (Dildo != penis)

barbed_penis should be implicated to barbs, instead of being aliased to it. Just like veiny_penis implies veins, etc.
