Sometimes I see old posts get to the front page again. What does it mean? Are those updated versions?

I'm guessing they are either reposts or bigger versions.

If you can provide some examples, we'll help identify it. We have a filter that should stop most reposts, but nothing's perfect.

That's why I always add the comment "Bigger version of post #12345" when I upload a bigger version of an existing post.

That's what I thought. The faves and views seem to be transferred, though. (I had already faved some of them and it took that into account) How does that work? Do you have to flag the older one and parent it?

You make it so that:
new version = parent
old version = child

Then you flag the old version, and when it gets deleted, e621 automatically transfers its favorites to the new version.
