It's an interesting point. We can assume that when someone's asking for advice, the goal is to strive for happiness. The question is, would you be happier being honest and not having anyone understand, or keeping some things about yourself private? If your honest answer is the former then sure! Go for it. An animal cannot give consent. Yes there is the capability to give a behavioral analogue to consent but that doesn't constitute as INFORMED consent.
