Topic: Tag Alias: snuggling -> snuggle

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

I think it's like a cuddle, except instead of being the head administrator of a fictional hospital on TV, it's a stuffed teddy bear hawking fabric softening laundry detergent.

Edit: Oh wait, that's a cuddy, not a cuddle. Silly me.

Mm, I'd say a hug is distinct from a full-body cuddle/snuggle. The latter is usually done lying down and implies more body contact. But... that's just me.

Snuggling is a type of hugging. Wouldn't it make more sense to alias that (and other synonyms of hugging) to hug instead?

Snuggling is different than hugging.

Still involves hugging, doesn't it?

So... implication?

I can hug someone without snuggling them.

Well I think at least "snuggling" to "snuggle" is pretty straightforward; same with "cuddling" to "cuddle".

I'd say that while you can hug someone without snuggling, you probably can't snuggle without hugging.

Also, in a completely unrelated matter, I can honestly say this is not a conversation I ever anticipated having. xD

Well that would be an implication then, and not an alias?

My suggestions:

Aliases:
snuggling, cuddling, cuddle, snuggle --> snuggle or cuddle (whichever one is more prominent, I guess)

Implications:
snuggle/cuddle -->implies--> hug (And not vice versa)

This post was just about snuggling to snuggle, which I think is fairly clear-cut and useful to taggers. (Or, perhaps vice-versa, since as KloH0und points out, the -ing form tends to be more prominent due to the way tags are kind of like observations.) I think the same goes for cuddling to cuddle.

For economy's sake, it would probably be best to say that cuddle, cuddling snuggle, and snuggling all get aliased to the same term (either cuddle or cuddling, since it's more popular tag-wise than snuggle/snuggling).

A cuddle is a prolonged hug, and since you don't know how long two people have been hugging for in an image, all you know is that you see them hugging. So I'm going to alias cuddling and cuddle to hug, if there are no objections.

But snuggling is different to hugging, yes (more body contact, more intimate), so that will not be changed.
I will add the snuggle -> snuggling alias, though.
