Topic: Original_Character tag?

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Are we supposed to remove Original_Character from posts with no relation to a franchise? From the tag wiki: "A character based off of a franchise, series or other copyright that is not canon and usually not fanon either. Most traditional furry characters do not need this tag as that would be every character."

Figured I'd ask before doing too many of them.

I think if its anything MLP related the original_character tag is supposed to stay regardless... have no idea about other franchises though...

I thought if the character is either designed after something else (like mlp oc's) or is a reoccurring character without a specified name by the artist/commissioner it's tagged as original_character.

Yeah, wiki says to only tag those for characters that are based on some franchise or series. Not for random fursonas, etc.

I've always found it a hard tag to use.
For example, I'm not very familiar with MLP or Sonic, and there's tons of minor characters that have only appeared once or twice in the franchise. So to figure out which characters are original and which aren't... I usually have to Google them.

There's also the original tag. It's a carryover from other sites (Danbooru, etc), and is used for original characters that aren't related to any franchises. Like the wiki says, "it's validity on e621 is questioned.". It probably should be invalidated, since it makes no sense to have two tags with similar name but opposite usage.

Ah, well. In that case, does anyone feel like helping me with these? I'm going through them, but it's slow with my connection.
