Is there really a rule against talking in fursuit and against removing the head in public?

Just wondering.

From what I heard, the fursuit "rules" were passed down from the rules of sports mascots. Some furs follow them, and some don't.

Most do follow those guidlines though, because it is just weird otherwise...

I may not be 100% correct though. My fursuit knowledge is a little fuzzy. (no pun intended.)

I know that the head removal thing begun with places like Disney. They found that kids were "traumatized" when they found their favorite character without his head, and saw that it really was just a person after all. If you remove your mascot head in the park, and if any customer sees, it's an automatic dismissal.

So, in effect, Yes, if you work for disney.

If you are a fursuiter, suiting up for your own reasons, then you are the one who's setting the rules on what You can or cannot do while in costume, and how you can break costume.

There isn't a fursuit police :p

...On top of scaring the suiter you may also break parts of the suit. There are countless cases where expensive suits have had parts broken or have been torn due to people playing too rough with the suit.

I made a little fan once out of an old Xbox fan and a 9 volt battery...it came in really handy when I was waiting for the bus in the summer.

I've only seen photographs. From what I've seen though, it sure looked...what's the word?...."primitive". There wasn't as many fursuits abundant as there are today...

just because you're a greymuzzle doesn't mean anything, I've been furry since '94, and I still learn new shit about furries all the time. I would fallow the rule of not removing the head, but there are suits made with movable jaws, so the no talking thing's kinda out the window at this point.
