Hard to say, as we crossed the threshold before I could go and screenshot it, then realised that the count was actually overestimating by about 3,000... so I'm probably just going to make one up in Photoshop and use that. Yeah, not real, I know - but I missed this one.

of course we can.. just have to delete an earlier image - then the numbers all shift down one.

That's kind of the problem with a shift image data base. Lets say an artist with 300 pictures suddenly wants all their work deleted - we would be back under 100k images.

I actually couldn't tell if you were serious or not.. but if you are. I believe the count is based on the submission id regardless of whether or not it was removed.. but who knows I could be wrong! :3

It was.. then 165 pictures got deleted and http://e621.net/post/show/109145 pushed us over ~again~

If we are going by ID alone, wouldn't post #100001 be the 100000th post? I'm pretty sure the database starts at 1, not 0.

No, post #100000 is the 100000th post. If it started at 0, post #99999 would be the 100000th.
