Topic: Tag Alias: Alicorn -> horn

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Aliasing Alicorn -> horn.

Reason: Alicorn as written in the wiki, refers to a unicorn's, or narwhale's horn. "Pfficially," an alicorn is "the horn of a unicorn, or the material of which the horn is made. In some modern fiction and art, an alicorn is a winged unicorn"

Every image on e621 that uses this tag is of a unicorn/pegacorn. The tag horn has nearly 8000 entries .. alicorn has less then 20.

Therefore, I believe Alicorn should be aliased to either horn or unicorn. :)

Well, it's about as official as terminology for fantastical creatures ever gets anyway. Sources were not very good :/

JMO: not an alias. An implication might be ok.

But why? alicorn is a horn, it's just a very specific type of horn. we don't have tags for curved_horns, twisted_horns, cow_horns, deer_horns (oh wait, those are antlers) and so forth. we just mostly have horns. Why should unicorn horns be special?

This is made even more true when ou say that the word can also refer to a species... which would be okay, yeah.. a winged unicorn does deserve a tag... and it has one: pegacorn.

I just think it's a redundant confusing tag :/ which is a real shame--Alicorn is a beautiful word.

Just poped in to say hi, but, Alicorn is the official source name for pegasus/unicorns, there are only two in the show and thats Princess Celestia, and Princess Luna. At least this is coming from Lauren Faust herself, give me a moment, I'll find her DA post on it.

Interesting. Wondered why it was coming up so much. If it's non-standard usage or might conflict, maybe alicorn_(mlp)?

Technically all the posts "pegacorn" are on pictures of MLP, which means Pegacorn should be Aliased to Alicorn IMO. {I prefer pegacorn myself but word of god puts it otherwise} but that works too Anon.

I really like alicorn better as a word.

alicorn_(mlp) is jsut kinda dumb... it'd be like tagging pony_(mlp) which I guess some might argue there's a basis for, but... no.

ultimatly, it's probably better to leave it as is, though.
