Topic: Why are unicorns gay?

Posted under Off Topic

I've never heard of unicorns being a metaphor for homosexuals before. After all, the original myths had them infatuated with virgin girls.

What country do you live in?

Maybe the U.S. Because that's where I'm from and I've never heard of unicorns being directly associated with homosexuality. They're primarily linked to little girls.

Unicorns are considered feminine, and anything with feminine connotations tends to be tied to homosexuality (in men). But I've never seen unicorns used as a direct metaphor.

Admit it, OP, you live in the depth of the amazonian forest.

Unicorns historically have ties with purity and innocence (despite the obvious phallic symbolism). They were allegedly hunted as pets, and were supposed to be fully capable of killing their hunters unless placated by a virgin beforehand. Prior to modern interpretations, unicorns used to be pretty metal.

USA, though I doubt that affects much.

...Did you seriously just quote a bunch of yahoo answers posts?

No. Unicorns and their mythology have nothing to do with homosexuality. Stupid people just see rainbows or femininity and think "HURRR IT MUST BE GAY".

I'm going to have to side with FurZ on this one. Yahoo Answers is a terribly unreliable reference.

I still stand by the femininity -> homosexuality in men theory.

That's just completely ignorant. There are plenty of feminine men that are heterosexual and homosexual men that are masculine. There are masculine women that are heterosexual and feminine women that are homosexual.

You simply can't always tell what someone's sexuality is based on how they act.

No, no, no, I'm not saying it's correct; I'm saying that's what society largely views it as. It's the stereotype. Society likes to equate femininity in men to homosexuality (the reciprocal applies to women). So in terms of the stereotype, unicorns = feminine, therefore unicorns = gay.

Sorry if I was being unclear.

Yeah, I personally think it's an ignorant, superficial association people falsely purport in an effort to marginalize gays. I know that a person's sexual orientation has no correlation to their masculinity.

Unicorns are gay because they love EVERYONE.

Did you even read this silly thing? Charlie the Unicorn and Robot Unicorn Attack are not homosexual, or even sexual at all. Further, I think several centuries of historical lore trump a few mindless bigots from around the internet.

Did you even read it?
It's about gay symbolism making its way into mainstream pop culture.
And because the mainstream isn't gay, neither is Charlie the Robot Unicorn.

And does this have anything to do with the unicorn dream sequence in Blade Runner?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. I'm not entirely sure why a unicorn was chosen for the dream sequence, but
