Topic: Some Questions about HP

Posted under Off Topic

A few of the users on here asked some questions about HP, and I didn't get a chance to answer back in great detail.

1. Thirty thousand HP Touchpads will be produced, extras can be produced, but it is up to your local retailer to get orders in.

2. HP will NOT cease production of PCs, It was merely a plan that has (as far as I know) been cancelled. Plans for new Laptop and Desktop models are on the board and are close to hitting the production floor.

3. While I prefer to keep my identity discreet, those who wish to apply for a job can visit: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/jobsathp/index.html if you do apply, it would make me happy if you would either answer the referral form blankly, or simply mark "A valued HP employee."

Thanks everyone for looking at my forum posts! If you have any questions or comments about HP you want to ask me please feel free to post them here.

P.S. I know this post is really off topic, but I just felt it would be easier to answer this way instead of sending out a bunch of PMs. Thanks again!

Huh. Very odd place to divulge this information.

But thanks, it's kind of cool hearing stuff like this from the company itself.

Yeah, sorry about that. Like I said, a few people asked me some questions, and I either gave them very short brisk answers, or just didn't answer at all. Besides, I like answering the questions people ask me about the company.

Anyway, no problem. I'll answer your questions anytime. :)

the only way I can do that is if you prove that you have an HP and have experienced problems that even we can't fix, or you've continued to have problems. Otherwise... No. ;)

A question:

Why must your printers be so shitty, and why is their ink worth more than its weight in gold?

Some people have more luck with our products than others. Sorry "Buddy" but pricing is not my division.

Lol.

Ink's getting cheaper, though only slowly. And it's not specific to HP ink.

I have found that many people I know personally have their HP printers crap out in about 2 years tops. Maybe that's not shitty, but I find it frustrating. Let's see. I think they all had some version of the All-In-One thing (including myself. Lasted 2 years. lulz). From what I've seen, the higher end office-type printers tend to be more robust. So yeah, next printer I get will probably (i.e. definitely) not be HP.

Don't take offense to that, Commie, I'm not trying to imply any of it is your fault, or that because you work for a company that I have never had good experiences with makes you a bad person. I don't assign guilt by association.

For what it's worth, my roommie bought the HP touchpad for cheap and loves it. Except that apparently WebOS sucks? I dunno, I've not used it and don't give two shits about tablets.

Well, I do have to back you up on that. As far as I know, if you have a newer model (2007 or better) you should be good. Seeing as how before that they built them using somewhat cheap and surplus materials. But like I said I don't know because Printing and finance is not my division.

I think the ink pricing issue is the same as how a Gilette razor is fairly cheap, but the separate blades are expensive. The printer/razor is something you buy only once, after which you'll need to keep buying the ink/blades in order to keep using the product. So they hook you with something cheap, after which they milk you as much as they can with the rest.

Which is why I always buy refills in stead of new ink cartridges. Sure, they usually don't last quite as long, but in the long run it saves a lot of money, especially if you print a lot.
