I would say yes. Censor_bar also works, especially if it isn't actually covering anything.

So use both or just censor_bar?

I would use both, since there are other forms of censorship too.

Alright

censor_bar should imply censored, and should only be used when it's a literal censor bar-type object- For example, when someone's holding a censor bar over themselves (As Fran Cervice has been known to do) but not when it's a thin line that doesn't really censor a la some japanese censorship- But not all! post #61983 would be a good example of how to tag censor_bar; and post #62362 and post #169284 are a good example of when not to (even if it is technically a bar, it's ineffectual at best) while post #165869 would be closer to what I'd call a censor bar (In that it actually functions as a censor, and not just a "this is 'censored' so it gets past the japanese censorship laws even if it's not actually censored").

You'd think that the ineffectual censor bar should also get it's own tag though. I think there was one, wasn't there?
Also, that image you linked clearly shows why censor_bar should not imply censored.

Yeah it definitely shouldn't imply censored, as sometimes it doesn't censor anything at all.

Wait, what? Shit, I've been tagging everything with an ineffectual censor bar as "censored." Sonofabitch.
I mean, I realize it's not really leaving anything to the imagination, but it is still censorship.

I tag anything with pixelization or any kind of black bars with censored. I expect others to tag creative_censorship or clever_censorship when the character is holding something or being blocked in a way that's more natural/"accidental" than covering*. As for pointless_censoring or useless_censor*, in a way all censoring is kinda useless in that regard since its obvious what's being shown, so I don't bother tagging it. Others might use it when the censor_bar is laughingly small or ineffectual, basically a line-through for the genitals - see post #129950 or post #120999 or post #46869. I agree with ippiki, censor_bar can't imply censored because of stuff like post #136139.

We really need to standardize this. Yes, there are several different variations, but we don't need all these.

I think now I'm more confused than I was at the beginning. Let me see if I got it right. If the censor bar is ineffective, tag it pointless_censoring or useless_censor but not censor bar or censored. If the censor bar is effective, it's tagged as censored and censor_bar. Obviously it does really need to be standardized but I guess for now what we establish here I'll use.

I would say save the censored tag for something that's really censored, as in, efficiently obstructs your view of the bits.

The censor bar doesn't even need to be effective if it's being used playfully- Like one of the examples I gave that illustrated a censor bar not covering anything of importance at all.
