Topic: What Does "Don't be a Dickin the Comments" Mean Exactley?

Posted under General

Recently I saw an image that, under normal circumstances, would have been blacklisted for me. I don't remember what I said exactly but it was along the lines of "learn how to tag your shit". The next day I found that ippiki ookami had created a neutral record for my account. The reason was "Please don't be a dick in the comments.".

So I would like to know what exactly constitutes a "dick" on this site to avoid any future mishaps.

Also, whoever it was I evidently offended, I apologize.

If you like this show that's fine, but you could at least learn how to tag your fucking shit so I can have at least one website where I don't have look at it all the fucking time?

Don't be a dick means don't leave comments like that. If people are struggling with tagging, fix it and move on, or leave them a friendly reminder in the comments if you're so compelled.

Basically, it just means don't be rude to people.

Sending friendly, constructive dmails is good too. It helps keep comments on a post relevant to the post itself.
There's also a higher chance the user you've got beef with will read it.

As a user, I think it's perfectly fine, perhaps even desirable, that the admins respond publicly when a user publicly asks about an administrative action. It maintains transparency, whereas no response makes it looks like the administration doesn't care whether it was right or wrong. Also, I feel a user deserves to have their dirty laundry aired when they insist on making a matter public.

The user receives a Dmail when they get a record already; it's easy enough to privately ask for clarification by replying to the Dmail they get. So I think it was a deliberate decision on Horek's part to bring this into the public's eye.

And I agree that Horek's comment was needlessly hostile.

I see comments like that when the uploader does a "aw fuck it, I'm lazy" and only puts a tagme tag.

Some mass-uploaders just put tagme as a temporary tag, and go back to them after they're done uploading. If you're going to be posting a lot of images then it makes sense to upload them first, and then tag them; it streamlines the process.

For the ones that are simply lazy, just send a note to the mods instead of commenting. I've seen plenty of people get warned for sloppy tagging, so the problem should resolve itself if you quietly and politely call it to their attention.

Here's what I do:
1) Open up (multiple) upload tabs.
2) Upload the image and tag em all.
3) Mass upload when double checked.
4) Fap since upload limit is reached.

Now I do this, minus the fap part.

FWIW, I have an upload limit of 110 :D
