Topic: Tag Alias: blackboard --> chalkboard

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

I don't really care which one is aliased to the other, but I agree that it should happen.

It looks like this alias has already been created. Not sure who created it or when at the moment.

I created it, I just forgot to post that I did in this thread. Chalkboard had a higher tag count, so it won out over blackboard even though I like "blackboard" as a word better.

Chalkboard is more correct(in theory), anyway.

Because, y'know, it's a green(NOT BLACK) board that you write on using chalk. Thus chalkboard.

Or if you insist on using a colour, greenboard.

You've never seen a black chalkboard before?

Oh, what?! So you automatically assume all chalkboards look black? Like they're one giant race of black chalkboard?!

In all fairness, a lot of the black chalkboards were made of slate, and they phased out using those in schools quite a while ago. Now they're just metal laid over a large board with a special paint on them. If he's young enough, he's probably only ever seen the green chalkboards.

Also, that's why they were originally called blackboards...because the slate was, in fact, black.

My mother has a slate chalkboard that's around 200 years old in her kitchen for writing notes, shopping lists, etc. Chalk just plain writes nicer on it, imo.
