Should be a given, especially if they are uploading their own art. That is always good for the site.

Instead of putting up little warnings, why not just start banning? Seems the most logical thing to do.

We ban people for bad commenting all the time. It's one of the most common reasons for bans.

For almost all offenses a warning is given first. Then a neutral record. Then a negative record. Then a short ban. And so on.

This is not a rule or a procedure that we HAVE to follow. It's just the way things are generally done.

Getting back on point, aurali is indeed right. Im a pencil artist myself and have one pic posted here thus far, and my belief as an artist is if someone provides good constructive criticism on the piece regarding things done nice and things that could use improvement and ways to help perhaps than thats great, it helps improvement on future art. If someone just bashes the artist it demoralises the artist and makes them often not want to draw anymore or at least not post there work to the public. Lets try and offer tips to our fellow friends instead of hating on them for their efforts... After all without the artists there is no art.

As an artist myself, i would say yes. though the down votes dont help in some cases too. I would like to be able to post my "mediocre" artwork and not get drowned in minus's lol (wixh is why keeps me from posting my Paintings), ill give you an example, i once posted a edit of a lifts-her-tail picture where i turned it into a card, it got deleted (which i dont mind) because of compression artifacts.......however before it went byebye, i saw it had about give or take 17 negative points... dont really know why that voters there, doesnt make the pictures any more special or anything, i think... (but then again ive never really paid attention to it)

I think that's what gets people so mad at him. He has a lot of technical skill, but many people don't share his tastes.

That seems to be the overriding factor in people's opinions on this site: it doesn't matter how well-constructed a piece is, if it doesn't suit my kinks then it sucks. They're not even willing to acknowledge the things they do like about the work because they're so hung up on what they don't like.

As an artist my favorite comment to see is:

"Hey, I'm not into this sort of thing.

But that's a really good drawing."
