Topic: heat and in_heat

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Just finished a review and minor cleanup of these tags, and I'm not sure what to do.

Currently there are three -in_heat+heat images in the database. I'm satisfied with how those are tagged.

There are still about a dozen images that are tagged both though, and 10 more that are -heat+in_heat. (And a single image tagged estrus, FWIW.)

I'm tempted to alias all tags →in_heat, and retag the -in_heat+heat images to "hot" or something, but I didn't upload images like post #32795 and post #40014, and I don't know if there's a complaint to be raised in aliasing the heat tag.

Thoughts?

why is there a tag for heat as in temperature I don't even

is there some sort of fetish for sweltering in a desert with your dick out

in_heat should refer to "estrus"
heat can refer to temperature I think
no matter what you do people will continue to defuckulate it so go with what's most intuitive.

e621 isn't ALL porn...

a lot of people might be suprised to know that e621 has, percentage-wise, less porn compared to not-porn than either FA or fchan. Of course, it doesn't stop idiots from going 'hurr porn site lolz' but there you have it.

Sorry for besmirching your porn-free virtue with my ridiculous assumptions.

Percentages are really neither here nor there. It's pretty ignorant to assume that with 6700 totally clean posts, we don't have any use for tags that aren't a sexual fetish of some sort.

Getting back on topic: How do the ambiguity tags mentioned in forum #1231 work? That could solve the problem of what to do with the heat tag going forward. "Do you mean in_heat or hot?" Otherwise I don't know how I'd go about setting up an alias in this case, that wouldn't result in just as many or more mistagged images as there would be if I left it alone.

It wasn't so much I was assuming the tag was useless as... trying to discern some reason that someone would be looking for images in which characters are uncomfortably warm. Aaaaaanyways ambiguity tags typically refer to tags with the exact same name as far as I know... the only one I have encountered is "tails".

Why would people want to search for "food"? Outdoors? How about "fire" or "beach"? While none of these are directly related to the main content on the site, they nonetheless serve the function tags are supposed to serve, namely to help people find images. Just because they're not directly related to sex doesn't mean they can't be helpful.

You are right. When uploading i search for little details whic will mostlikely be on a lot of images. That is the easyest way to search before upload. But since no one tags shit good....
