Topic: Tag implication: character_request -> unknown_character

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

I thought I aliased unknown_character to invalid_tag a long time ago. Either someone undid it or I just forgot.

So what does one use for posts with unknown characters?

Also semi-related are posts with original characters

original_character?

I came across a few examples of original_character and thought it would be very helpful to keep this in order to have a consistent way of searching just fan ponies or other characters for that matter but it seems that ponies need this tag most.

Also character_request would be very helpful for searching out missing characters like tagme does, as for an implication? I think that would only make it easier, but maybe it could go both ways and merely needs an alias.

Nothing, otherwise we'd have to tag everything without a character:_* tag with unknown_character, and that wouldn't help or improve anything. And original_character is just a bloat tag that could theoretically apply to literally every character not from a major series or franchise, but it's mostly used by pony uploaders. If you want to search for characters not from the show, one can just search mlp -fim.

I'm not strictly opposed to the character_request tag though. I could see that being useful.

You've got a point there.
The suggestion was based on searching for 'lost' posts with identifiable characters/artists that could be easily found with chartags:0 and arttags:0

But that would require every other post to have an artist & character tag; quite a task, not to mention the question of the means justifying the ends

I'll write up a wiki entry, till a better option comes up
