Topic: small varient pictures

Posted under General

hey, i recently added a pic i edited(basicly cut off an unappealing chunk), and it was deleated...not complaining, just wana know for future reference, is this kinda thing not wanted? i left a link and note that it was a varient of the pic from the link. the original had many posts(that i agreed with) about how painful the shark giving the guy a bj looked, however the other half was very nice :P so i cut off the bad an uploaded, added a buncha tags, and put the link an note.

so, good or bad?

In my opinion, I would rather see the whole image if possible. There are instances that occasionally pop up where all that is available is a cropped image. Ideally I would like the whole thing; and since the particular instance you mentioned was essentially the opposite, I removed the offending edit.

Cropping out nearly half of an image because it is found unappealing doesn't sit well with me. You may do whatever you wish with the image on your own computer to make it more to your liking, but I will ask you not to post the edited version on e621. You are not representing the artists' intent when doing so.

What about posting a picture, but edited with an alpha channel (transparency)?

More specifically, I have cut out the background of post #32279 for my own purposes, and would like to know if I should post it.

I would consider that a useful edit, others may want it for use as a spray/tag/whatever. I'm (and I'm sure the other mods are) okay with it if the alpha is done well. Most of us can tell a poopoo edit from a good one :-) Just tag it appropriately and make sure to link it to the parent image.

I meant offending as in disagreeable, not offending as in having caused hurt feelings or displeasure :-) It's all good.
