Topic: "Huge" tag implies "big"

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

I feel that the huge_butt and huge_breasts tags should imply the big_butt and big_breasts tags, respectively. I've already added the entries, waiting for them to be approved.
I feel this change is necessary to avoid the situation where butt size is categorized into "huge", "big", and default.

What about penis? Balls?

The way I see it...
Big = bigger then normal
Huge = bigger then big

Updated by anonymous

big and huge are both things that differ person to person though... what I think is big might not be.

Updated by anonymous

"Huge" probably stands for "abnormally big", not sure if mixing both "big" and "huge" is a good idea

I'd say "no" to this. Big breasts would imply normally large breasts, say, D to F.

Huge goes from G on up to OMG-Y.

Maybe a less confusing way would be to alias huge_x to hyper_x.

Big < Huge < Hyper

It's three levels.

Big = Still a size that reasonably exists in real life.

Huge = We all know how furries love big breasts and big penises. This size is bigger than found in humans, but is not so large that it looks like a deformity yet.

Hyper = Breasts bigger than a beach ball, or a penis that goes above the nipples. Insanely impossibly huge that takes up a fair 25-50% or more of their body mass.

TL;DR: The difference between huge and hyper is that hyper is deformed.

But... That's <i>exactly the point</i> of the tags, isn't it? If you want to search for the big and huge versions, you go ahead and do that -- don't assume that <i>everyone</i> searching for big wants huge as well.

Also, if I remember correctly the tag implications haven't been examined for approval/denial in about half a year, so...

I remember someone mentionning a bug with implications, but there's been no details about that.

Seriously? I would call that being overly specific, especially when furries tend to use 'big' as a starting point and each person will have their own point of view on the boundaries.

Why don't you come up with some examples to demonstrate what you'd consider big, huge and hyper.

EDIT
Fun fact: While I was looking through the "penis" tag while looking for examples of big and huge, I actually had a hard time finding many examples of penises over 6 inches long. Most of the penises I found tended to be in the 5-6 inch range, and I had to go through well over a hundred images before I found a good example of a penis over 6 inches long. So your statement is easily an exaggeration. But I digress...

Off the top of my head? Here's what I would go with for describing big, huge, and hyper penises. I know those aren't the tags currently being discussed, but I'm familiar with examples which I can locate rapidly.

Big
http://e621.net/post/show/76377/

Huge
http://e621.net/post/show/75688/

A smaller hyper "on the borderline" but clearly seems to be hyper, as it is visibly deformative.
http://e621.net/post/show/29078/

More traditional Hyper
http://e621.net/post/show/68695/

The "to the nipples" measurement for describing hyper penises seems to be a fairly accurate and consistent starting point. A fair 3 feet in size.

If you want more specifics... assuming an average 5'8" height of the character in question...

8-12 inches = Big
12-36 inches = Huge
Bigger than 36 inches = Hyper

Something of that nature would be roughly how I would personally tag them if I uploaded one... As for breasts, I think temporal crux said it best.

Which is basically the same thing that I said for penises. "Big" is naturally large. "Huge" is inhumanly large, but not yet deformed.

He just left out hyper, which of course is once it becomes deformed looking. Beach-Ball like. If it looks like the cup size would have to be described as a maybe an S or a T... yeah you probably have hyper.

If the breast is physically larger than the woman's head, then it's probably the start of being classified as hyper.

To give a borderline example... While Chalosan does not typically draw hyper (in my opinion) based on his character sheets http://e621.net/post/show/64908/

At least one of his characters is solidly hyper, even if it's still on the low end http://e621.net/post/show/71257/

TL;DR: The difference between hyper and huge is whether the penis/breasts/butt has become so large that the person looks deformed. Yes I know that is a subjective definition, but it's the best I have ATM.

See, I would say your big and huge dicks there are pretty much the same size. Certainly, there's nothing between them that I would grant different tags.

Meanwhile, let's take a look at how other people use the tags.

Just on the first page of bigs I see
post #76419
absurdly sized cocks.

With huge you'll get
post #74778
some clear hyper material. Again, the first page of it only.

You know we also have a large penis tag as well, with boundaries just as unclear?

What you'd have to wrestle with is not only your own vague interpretation and coming to a consensus with the rest of us, but others not knowing or caring about precisely which tag applies. Most people just want to throw on whatever comes to mind first and move on with their lives. I really can't blame them.

So just keep it simple. Big_x and huge_x are enough, with a general hyper tag thrown on to the huge ones when necessary.

Of note Hat... all but one of those 6 images are tagged Hyper as well.

Inconsistency in tags. Another day in the life of e621, goddamnit.

Generic Accidental Double Post

Or GADP for short. Rolls off the tongue doesn't it?

From the wiki

big_breasts
Breasts that are above average in size, but no bigger than the female’s head.

huge_breasts
Breasts that are unusually large. Usually with notable sag and often clearly visible even when viewed from behind. Equal to or exceeds the bearer’s head in size.

I think these are a good rules of a thumb and I've been using them when tagging.

Being "Overly Specific" is EXACTLY THE POINT OF TAGS!!!!! So you can filter to taste, to fetish and what ever. In my experience I have seen that fetishes get incredibly specific and narrow, so the finer the degrees, the better the tags are as filters.

Sure, I agree that having the capability for specifics is important - it's beautiful that I can search for and find red headed herms with dick and nipple piercings - but when you're coming up with your own definitions for subjective viewpoints in three different levels of size, it can become a mess to get people, particularly those that will never read this thread or the wiki descriptions, to follow in line.

Still, I've come to agree with what's been laid out here. It's just going to take a lot of work to standardise every upload so far and then constant monitoring of the tags to rectify new uploads where necessary.
