Topic: Can E621 be a democracy?

Posted under General

I know that there aren't very many occurrances of this but if something has a score of like -100 but one guy says he likes it then why are these thing seldomly removed? I think that anoying posts (the kind no one likes but gets flagged for deletion and denied because one person found it erotic)are starting to build up. I'm not saying that the mods need to do their jobs,(because they do a seriously good job keeping the site at a good standard)all I'm saying is I think we should go with majority rules when it comes to hated posts with very low scores. I'd like to hear what everyone else thinks about it.

So what are you saying is that a -100 should stay just because 1 out of 1000 likes it? Yeah right.

BAW!

Despite having an old account, you seem pretty new to this place, I suggest lurking a bit more so you can learn to avoid making stupid threads.

TLDR; Flag posts for deletion that don't deserve it, it is very productive (no, really!).

What makes you think that it would be any different if 0 out of 1000 likes it? If you're not comfortable with this policy, you can always head to another site more in line with your expectations.

Im cool with it, but my example was for the pictures that do get deleted in the end because of a low score.

I don't see things that I think should be deleted very often. If someone is enjoying it, that's fine.

This is the only thing that stood out in my mind as needing to be deleted. I'm sure it's been tagged plenty of times, and the mods decided not to delete it. But I am absolutely baffled as to why it was not deleted

You know what, you're a furry. I don't even want to understand how you can try to use this logic.

Besides, there is this magical way of making an image you like go away, it's called the "block list" and it's awesome :)

1st of all i am not or do consider my self in any way a furry.
2nd i joined like 10 months before you, i know all that.
3rd lol

I know all that.

Why not do it then? (I don't buy the whole not a furry thing.. you're here for a reason. :p)

Because there is no need to black list any thing and i don't (for a longer time now) even talk about things i don't like.
And i am here for the art and for the reason every one is here. But still i am not furry or ever will be.

I surely wouldn't want a pic to be deleted just because everyone else doesn't like it. Don't want to let the minority to be trampled... (Furries are already a minority on the internet... (...I think...))

Furies are not a minority, lol. There is a lot of furies.

'There is a lot' does not prevent a group from being a minority. A minority is anything less than 50% of the whole.

Lol @ that

So the entire net is a minority?

Did you really just pull a "I've been here" longer card?

Depends on the context.

Why do i care any way... If i continue i would just get banned again, lol.

Any way, yes, i do know more about this site than you since i was here longer.

... Also, as far as the actual topic here goes:

Majority rule over minority actions which don't affect the ruling majority is always a stupid idea. No, E621 is not and cannot 'be a democracy' in what is allowed on the site. Personally, I'm quite fine with the 'anything goes' policy that's in effect now.

If you don't want to see it, blacklist and move on. If 99.9% of people don't want to see it, they can do the same. As long as there's one person on the site who does want to see it, it still has a purpose in being here.

XD Moving on..

This, a thousand times. If 150 people -1 it. And 50 people +1 it, then there is still people wanting it.. if it bothers you so much, then wouldn't it be more mature to not make a big deal... Most people have a disturbing fetish anyway.

This.

Heaven help me for having developed a foot fetish -_-;

I'm still not sure how that happened. It still disturbs me that I even have that fetish in the first place.

I think thats because the fandom is kind of a last resort to those ostracized by other people. I cant think of many other communities that have such a diverse group of interests as furry. Probably why theres so much drama that comes with it.

Are you people done bitching?

No.

This was the effective end to this thread, yet you still feel the need to argue for a change that would do great harm. If you want a democracy, then go back to /b/. This site is semi-ok BECAUSE it's not a democracy. If it was, failfags could post what they want, edit what they want, and act like they want. This is E621.net, a furry site. If this was a democracy, people would probably be posting child porn and pictures of themselves posing naked in the mirror. This thread needs to be locked and murdered.

Hey, discussion is discussion. β)

And... I think I miss your point. You say that if the site was *not* a democracy, people would break out in mayhem, but if it "was" a democracy, people would post lewd images that 'most' people wouldn't want.

For fannish art pursuits, democracies don't work, The best quality art sites, and publications were those helmed by judgmental assholes with taste. They tended to be drama free as well.

The only difference here is it's pretty free for all, in terms of content, and no one is screening for quality, But I got banned once, and learned my lesson, and blacklisted the bad artists and the drama queens. Just add to the blacklist and drive on (though i would still like a "Low_skill" tag as a public service).

why should it be deleted? you dont like it, some one else does, its still used, all is good :)

Art is art. Even boner death pics have a place here. This is a depository for all things furry, good, bad, and ugly.
