Topic: HowTo:Tag Gender, optical improvements

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Some of you are probably aware of the Wiki Page HowTo:Tag_Gender , that page is awesome and helpful, but the second part, that Q&A Game (Vertical Gender-tagging Flowchart), is in my opinion hard to read and could be a bit better sorted.

What I am talking about are basically two things, the first would be in 3. Any Breasts

3. Any Breasts?
  • A) Yes
    • See 4.
    • 3.A.i) Penis + Breasts = Dickgirl
    • 3.A.ii) Vagina + Breasts = Female
    • 3.A.iii) Penis + Vagina + Breasts = Herm
    • 3.A.iv) Unknown genitals + Breasts = Female

That first option (See 4) should be the last option.
Because it should be: Is it 1 or 2 or 3? No? See 4. And not See 4, ignore the rest.
I would also shuffle it around to be "visible female, still female, herm, Dickgirl" and not "dickgirl, visible female, herm, still female".

The second thing gets easier to see in '4. What does the character's body type/shape resemble?'

Currently it is like this:

  • B) Female
    • 4.B.i) Penis - Breasts + Female body = Male (+ girly)
    • 4.B.i) Penis + Unknown breasts + Female body = Dickgirl
    • 4.B.ii) Vagina - Breasts + Female body = Female
    • 4.B.ii) Vagina + Unknown Breasts + Female body = Female
    • 4.B.iii) Penis + Vagina - Breasts + Female body = Herm
    • 4.B.iii) Penis + Vagina + Unknown breasts + Female body = Herm
    • 4.B.iv) Unknown genitals - Breasts + Female body = Female
    • 4.B.iv) Unknown genitals + Unknown breasts + Female body = Female

But I think it would look better like this:

  • B) Female
    • 4.B.i) Female body + Penis - Breasts = Male (+ girly)
    • 4.B.i) Female body + Penis + Unknown breasts = Dickgirl
    • 4.B.ii) Female body + Vagina - Breasts = Female
    • 4.B.ii) Female body + Vagina + Unknown Breasts = Female
    • 4.B.iii) Female body + Penis + Vagina - Breasts = Herm
    • 4.B.iii) Female body + Penis + Vagina + Unknown breasts = Herm
    • 4.B.iv) Female body + Unknown genitals - Breasts + = Female
    • 4.B.iv) Female body + Unknown genitals + Unknown breasts = Female

The improvement is simply that the constant option (in this case Female Body) is at the beginning, and thus lines up in the entire block, leaving only the different options to jump around.
It would also probably profit from sorting it that the different female options are at the beginning, then male, then dickgirl, then herm and not in such chaos as it is now.

Would look like this
  • B) Female
    • 4.B.i) Female body + Vagina - Breasts = Female
    • 4.B.i) Female body + Vagina + Unknown Breasts = Female
    • 4.B.ii) Female body + Unknown genitals - Breasts = Female
    • 4.B.ii) Female body + Unknown genitals + Unknown breasts = Female
    • 4.B.iii) Female body + Penis - Breasts = Male (+ girly)
    • 4.B.iii) Female body + Penis + Unknown breasts = Dickgirl
    • 4.B.iv) Female body + Penis + Vagina - Breasts = Herm
    • 4.B.iv) Female body + Penis + Vagina + Unknown breasts = Herm

So, what's your opinion on this? Would the flowchart profit from these changes?

Looks much better, more organized

We can edit the wiki page with this chart, but perhaps we can change the styling to not use so many numerals and use letters (1.4.2) or something a bit better looking

Yup! Anything that's easier for someone to view at a glance, and understand exactly what they're looking for, and what tag(s) to use, sounds great

Here's a breakdown of the current formatting, for a better idea of how it's arranged in relation to the original:
  • The 'See x' option was put first, since most posts require more than just a couple of confirmed observations in order to confidently be tagged as such (e.g. a herm character should usually have visible breasts, a penis, as well as a vagina; all of which are usually easily observed in most posts such as post #175505, post #218831 (feminine body) etc.

The rarer cases, where most of that information is not present/ambiguously present, comes after, in the same order as the horizontal flowchart (starting from the top with neuter, then male genitals)

  • Which brings up the 2nd point about the tag order: Each option reflects the horizontal flowchart's order as well, starting with neuter/no genitals, then continuing to penis (male gentials) + all the possible combinations (breasts -> body type) , then vagina (female genitals) + all the possible combinations (breasts -> body type), then finally unknown/ambiguous cases
  • The numbering was also done with respect to the horizontal flowchart (Arabic numerals representing the main decision trees used, Roman letters representing the responses, and finally Roman numerals representing the possible combination of responses)

But, if they seem harder to follow, then a change is definitely a good idea

Is there any reason for the double returns in the horizontal flowchart?

If it's just to space things out, then we may want to fill in the missing lines.
