Topic: Tag Type Change: Tetsunoshin and Related Characters

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Hi, I've been bugged by the fact that the tag classes relating to the series "Tetsunoshin" are incorrect. When I went to change the tag classes on the tags page, I got an access denied message. (I'm guessing that only mods/admins have the ability to do this.)

tetsunoshin: character -> copyright
This tag is the name of the series. Since a character shares a name with the series, I created and added the character tag "tetsunoshin_(character)" on the posts where it applied to avoid the name clash.

pochi: normal -> character
seto: normal -> character
iwan: normal -> character
hanzou: normal -> character
Since these are the names of characters, they should be character-class tags, not regular tags.

Thanks!

Any user can change tag classes by adding the following prefixes to the tags.

artist:
character:
general:
copyright:

I know that's the common wisdom, null, but I just tried it myself with tetsunoshin with no luck. Was also unable to change hanzou. There seems to be some point where a tag's class becomes entrenched and normal users can't change it anymore.

pochi: normal -> character should be done (though I hesitated since this is a common Japanese pet name, like "Spot" in the U.S.)
seto: normal -> character should be done
iwan: normal -> character should be done

Unable to change:
tetsunoshin: character -> copyright
hanzou: normal -> character

Edit: Both of those tags have 20+ posts attached to them, so I'm guessing the critical mass for a tag's class is between 5-20 posts.

Yeah, I tried to use the copyright prefix on tetsunoshin and since it didn't work I figured that regular users couldn't change tag types of existing tags. Though it's good to know that normal users can change the type of tags with a relatively low post count.
