Topic: Tag Alias/Delete: androgyny -> ambiguous_gender

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Forums newfag/tagnazi here. I suggest aliasing/removing the androgyny tag.
Honestly, I suggest delete. Androgyny is pretty unused.
Reason: The majority of posts in it don't even need ambiguous_gender in the first place.

(hey, amidoinitrite?)

Edit 1: Also, what's the say on the genderless tag?
Edit 2: Tiredness warrants mistakes, fuck. I mean ambiguous_gender. I thought I was doing something wrong.
Damn it.
Edit 3: I have too many afterthoughts. If there is no genetalia (or however you may spell it it's 7 am) showing or the species is of such where gender is not easily discernable, but the character is known and the gender of the character is known, do we TWYS or is there an exception (doubt it)?

Androgyny refers to characters of a known gender,but are depicted in such a way that it's very hard to tell without outside knowledge

Characters are tagged as ambiguous gender when their sex is not known at all,since no clues are given (also other than from outside sources)

In short:
Androgyny - known gender,hard/impossible to tell
Ambiguous gender - unknown gender,hard/impossible to tell

That might be subject to change in the future though

You do raise a good point about androgyny,maybe it should be aliased to androgynous?

androgyny -> androgynous

Also,it seems that androgynous has been aliased to ambiguous_gender by a ms/mr erica_wolf ,who's now currently banned.
Is that a real alias?

Huh, yeah, I forgot there was an androgynous tag. Androgyny should probably be aliased to that.

Seeing as how they are somewhat different terms (thank you for pointing that out) it should probably not be aliased. Or it could be aliased to a new tag, androgynous_gender, maybe.
This would actually be a damn good tag because there are a lot of official/recognized characters (such as every character from My Little Pony) whose gender cannot be actually found based on the TWYS rule. Using this tag would be better than anbiguous_gender because you know the character and that the character has a specific gender but have no proof of it in the image.

Hm.

Not sure what you mean by this. Both tags mean the same thing: a character whose gender is unable to be identified without character or artist statements.
Seems like this should have been aliased long ago.
