I disagree. The two are visibly distinct in appearance from one another, even without taking gender into account.

They're totally different pokemon.
That would be like saying Nidorino and Nidorina are the same thing!

The less unicode we use in the tags, the better

strictly speaking they should become Nidoran_M and Nidoran_F {Their technically two different pokemon, nidoran_M becoming nidorino and nidoking, and nidoran_F becoming nidorina and nidoqueen

And for those of us who aren't Pokemon fans?
I think even none pokemon fans can tell the difference between the bright pink nidoran and the baby blue nidoran

Why not just tag male or female instead of that unicode?

...and you can't breaded them together in the game because game freak said so, and i grew up thinking about one episode of the cartoon were they were said they destined to be together. The reality of this is crushing.

Nidorina and Nidoqueen can't breed except with Ditto though and no one knows why.

Twas a glitch caused that Gamefreak fixed in later versions. Apparently Nidoran (male and female) were originally genderless (they left the Unicode to know the difference) and it also applied to the later evolutions. So in any case, Nidoqueen and Nidoking was unfuckable except Ditto.
Satisfied?

nope.avi
Nidorina and Nidoqueen are in the "No Eggs" egg-group (the same one as legendaries), they can't breed (except with Ditto), even in newer versions.

Well fuck. I can't believe that romance in Pokemon is a bitch.

Because, although they look very similar, they're recognized as two different pokemon. Technically, you COULD have a male nidoran♀, and a female nidoran♂ (not in the game universe, but in fan-art).
There are more differences to their bodies than just color though. For example: Official Nidoran♂ art and Official Nidoran♀ art. Here's two more examples: Nidoran♂ Nidoran♀
So although the names indicate just a gender difference, there is actually enough difference between them to warrant having them as separate tags.

There in different egg catagories for a start, but they do not give an egg because Nidorina/Nidoqueen is in the NO EGGS category with the likes of
mew and you can't breed legendary's, you can clone with dido i think.
Nidoran/Nidorino is in the monster group egg wise.

I personally say nay, while the unicode is annoying, it should stay on account of it being part of the pokemons' name.

This. They are different pokemon, and I object to aliasing away from the proper name to a more searchable name. It should be the other way around. Fortunately, we already have searchable aliases in place (nidoran_(male) -> nidoran♂ and nidoran_(female) -> nidoran♀).

Nidoran-Male, and Nidoran-Female are both in the Monster and Field egg groups, therefor you can breed then, as I said.
They do not lose the ability to breed until nidoran-female evolves.

Not in the game without hacking it, if you meant just in art then sure a gender swap type situation is possible.
