What about all these original the characters who have nothing to do with the show?

They're still technically part of the show/fandom thingy, no?

do we even use the _(mlp) suffix on original characters?

What about the characters from the previous shows? FiM is more widely known, but the franchise itself dates back to the 80's. As for original characters, I imagine that they would need a suffix of some sort if they shared a name with other, more popular, characters

We shouldn't, but it still happens sometimes.

MLP style characters should be tagged as such even if they arent in the show :/

Agreed, provided style of artwork rivals that of the show and character could visibly pass as one of the mlp crew. Dont want any pony becoming mlp tagged do we?

Make mlp_style tag
Don't implicate to mlp ?

i have no problem tagging OC's with MLP, since so many people have it blacklisted. What doesn't make sense to me is tagging them friendship_is_magic when they have nothing to do with the show other than art style.

Disagree, style shouldn't be counted:
1) There's various MLP styles, FiM is only the current style.
2) Characters from the FiM series can be drawn in a different style, but should still be tagged FiM.
On a seperate note, I've advocated for a *_(style) tag, but it'd be an exceedingly major tagging project if we were to accept those types of tags.

Part of My Little Pony, not part of FiM.
For instance, Spike has at least 3 different variants, G1, G3, and G4 (FiM). Compare and contrast:
Generation 1: http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/G1_Spike
Generation 3: http://www.mlparena.com/mlp/index.php
Generation 4: http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/G4_Spike (Do I need to make an example for this?)

I can agree to that, I'm not a fan of MLP or FIM so I didn't really care to think there was much of a difference. To clarify I was just talking about FIM being tagged as such.
I wouldn't mind seeing FIM fan art if it was clever or something, maybe we should just have a separate tag for faust's style? like Fausts_FIM to distinguish between original fan art or current FIM style
