After extensive analysis I have deduced Ultraviolet was trying to incite an orgy of self-pity.
For the record, everyone has a sob story. Mine in particular tends to be in the top-ranking of grim and depressing. What I really learned though is that no matter how tough you have it, someone else always has it worse.
contests of "my story is so woefully more tragic than yours" is grotesque on so many levels. If you triumph over adversity, good for you!
