Specifically because art is subjective, our tagging system is therefore necessarily objective to ensure that content can be found by any user, regardless of their level of familiarity with a particular artist, style, or creation.

As a result, policy is that all tags should be representative of the image at a glance; that is to say, how it would be described by a person not familiar with the work in question who has seen it for the first time. If a picture requires an extensive explanation, disclaimer, or intimate knowledge of the artist/creation in order for a tag to be justified for inclusion or exclusion, then it should generally err on the side of 'uninformed viewer'.

As always, common sense applies, for what it's worth.
