Topic: searching limits?

Posted under General

is there a limit on how many tags you can put in the search bar because whenever i put 5 or more it just shows me the most recent posts that were added to the site. doesn't really bug me cuz i am almost never that specific but just wondering

Maximum tags for a normal user is 4 tags. You can ask the Administration to give you an special account that allows you 8 or more.

I'm pretty sure it's a limit of 2 for normal users and unlimited for privileged accounts (although searching with more than 4 tags is basically pointless anyway, 4 tags takes about a minute and 5 would take much longer).

the wiki is outdated, I can do up to 4 before it stops.

An account in good standing with a long history of contributing through relevant uploads, high-quality tagging including improving the tagging of images not your own, proper use of the delete queue, and a courteous, helpful presence on the comments and forums sections of the page.

Bonus points for fixing up pools/notes/wiki entries, finding and privately discussing minor site issues and solutions with the dev team (such as a tag vandal that slipped through the cracks), or having another priviledged account vouch for you.

Huge negative points for trying to play mod/admin, being abrasive or obnoxious with your site comments or conduct, shitty tagging, lots of no-content comments/posts, or begging to get one.

Essentially, just be a courteous user, and contribute regularly to the site, and I see no reason why there'd be a problem giving an upgrade in this case. If anyone thinks they're particularly deserving of one based on all that ramble, or want to recognize someone else who's been helping out, let me know. I'll look over the account history and make a decision, and let those involved know. Just don't be a jerk and suggest a few dozen people or I might hate you :)

You could just upload new stuff from FA or something.

No, not a strict requirement. A lot of the current priviledged users are people from the first incarnation of the site or other folks we know personally so we're effectively vouching for them ourselves - it's just something that helps your case since it shows you're an active contributor to the site.

cetetic and wyrmchild are both excellent examples of priviledged accounts that don't have a ton of uploads, but have been big helps in other ways - namely fixing up tags and improving the wiki.

well ill try my best to help make E621 the best E621 it can be :P

P.S

just noticed a tiny glitch, the little divider between (at the moment atleast) the threads "gay tagging" and "oldest furry pron" is missing.
