Making Of: Cabbit - Result
I wanted to experiment with my colouring method a little more, so I wanted to draw something up quick and easy to play with. I said a few times in the comments that I had never seen an actual cabbit anthro drawn, to my memory (though I have no doubt they're around), so I figured that'd be fun.
Basically just looks like a cat with weird ears, though. x3 Lost the stripes in the mix somehow, totally not because I'm lazy. Also one ear is floppy... not because I wanted to do something "cute", but because I didn't have room at the top of the page xD
So yeah, I have this Gouache stuff laying around I haven't used often. It's sorta like watercolours, so I hear. So I gave it a shot. I started like I normally do, nice shaded, but flat layer of colour from watercolours, then once it dried put a nice dark smattering of cooler brown into the shadows to darken it up. Looked great. And then it dried.
Now, you expect watercolours to lighten a bit as they dry, that's normal, but this stuff is rediculous. The dark, rich, cool brown colour I put in the shadows ended up -lighter- than the highlights! The hell? This stuff is rediculous. That makes it more or less impossible to use the way I want to.
Fair enough. lesson learned. I grabbed some pencils and went to work with those to save this picture, but that's not going to work every time. Guess I'll have to give acrylics another shot, despite hating the damn things. x3
Anyway, just a quick experiment pictures. Hope it's enjoyed, lemme know your thoughts!
