Description
Staring at his fingernails, Drake suppressed a laugh after briefly eying the brutish scantily clad wretch approaching from the dig site entrance. The poor creature, he thought, thought he knew it all but oh no how he still was but a lost orphan in the endless dark...
"Ah! Come and see Dank my wolf. Behold! Behold the debris of those that came long before us, before the world burned from their excess and laid the groundwork for the present world. See yourself atop these artifacts of wretched arrogance. And now see yourself. Naught but bones, naught but flesh, atop the ruins of the past. Ruins atop ruins. Atop a dead layer, atop dead layers. Soon, you shall join in your own layer Dank. As will all those you love and hold dear. All of them. I know you don't value your own life, and your selflessness I tell you is for nothing. Your challenge to the Paradigm of Solipsism is futile. Your seeking of the truth has but led you to the futile end. All of your struggles my boy, all of them, waste of sweat and blood. Yet you fight on..."
Drake gave him a sadistic smile glaring teeth at the edges.
"...I shall enjoy seeing you fail."
Danks eyes zeroed in. "I didn't come here to brood over the dead or their sins, I came here to enjoin you with them for yours."
Drake laughed. "Oh why so much killing Dank? Why the Countess and I may not agree on everything but the thought of killing you would only take away so much fun! Look around you, you don't think I enjoy digging amongst the scrap heap of a buried and dead civilization? Oh no I have been seeking some truths of my own... instead of killing me I could show you more to enlighten you to why you exist and why the order of today stands."
He smiled, and smoothly offered Dank his hand, utterly unimpressed with the tense and enraged gladiators pose for battle with sword and shield. "Come Dank, let me show you the truth that eludes you."
